Margaret I. Dean

Our beloved mother, Margaret Irene Sherrer Oleson Dean, 92, died Saturday, January 27, 2024. She was born during a blizzard on March 15 in Whiting, Kansas. She has resided in Kansas, California, Texas, Pennsylvan­ia, and Virginia. She has been a Hampton resident for the last 15 years where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church Fox Hill.

Margaret was passionate about sports. She played baseball and golf and enjoyed freshwater fishing. She also followed the KC Chiefs, Philadelph­ia Phillies, KC Royals, and Norfolk Tides. She followed basketball and football programs at Kansas University Jayhawks and Kansas State University Wildcats. She always watched pro golf tournament­s.

Margaret was the daughter of the late Charles and Lola (Fassnacht) Sherrer. She retired as the Administra­tive Assistant for the Kansas Secretary of State, Mr. Bill Graves. She participat­ed and was past president of the Business Profession­al Women in Topeka. While living in Kansas, she was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church and was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Eagles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Charles E. Sherrer, her sister, Phyllis Jean Morse, the father of her children, John B. Oleson, and her husband, Charles Dean. Survivors include her daughters, Sandra L. Williams (Allan) of Virginia, Joyce L. Hilger (Louis) of North Carolina, Nancy K. Ewing (Eric) of Georgia, her brother, Gary L. Sherrer of Colorado, nine grandchild­ren, fourteen great-grandchild­ren, one great-greatgrand­child, and many extended nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 10, 2024, at First United Methodist Church Fox Hill. A service in Topeka will be scheduled later (TBA).

The family is grateful for the loving care she received from her healthcare providers Dr. Sui, Dr. Braham, Dr. Vaughn at Sentara and Riverside. Margaret believed in our Father God and our Savior Lord Jesus. We are confident she was blessed, healed, and given peace.
