Brenda Moore Pritchard
Brenda Moore Pritchard passed away peacefully Friday, January 26, 2024, with her loving family at her side. She was 73 years old. Brenda was born to Robert Vernon Moore and Nancy Pearl Moore in Newport News, Virginia, on September 29, 1950. She graduated from Denbigh High School in 1968 and pursued accounting courses at Christopher Newport University. She was a life-long resident of the Hampton Roads area, later moving to York County, where she raised her family.
Brenda met her devoted husband, Greg, when they were set up on a date in 1968 after he returned from training in the Marine Corps Reserves. It was love at first sight and the start of a beautiful relationship in which they were always together. They married on June 20, 1970 and had a wonderful marriage of almost 54 years and three amazing children. Their dedication to each other was admired by all who met them. Brenda was remarkable, the best mother and partner that anyone could ever ask for. She was kind, loving, devoted to her family, and very smart. She was also the toughest person, courageously battling numerous health challenges, including multiple sclerosis and parkinson's, and never losing her smile and her spirit.
She used her accounting background to help establish Pritchard & Company Builders along with Greg in 1984. Brenda was an integral partner in the business and customers always want to know how she is doing, even to this day. Despite a busy career, Brenda remained very involved in her children's lives and activities. She was a fantastic mother and caregiver to her son with autism, Ryan.
All those who interacted with Brenda during her professional career loved and respected her. The caregivers and nurses who helped Greg and Brenda during her last 18 months always commented on what a sweet and caring person she was. They all recognized that she was often in substantial pain and discomfort, however she never let this show and always treated them with respect and appreciation. This lovely lady will certainly be missed!
Brenda is survived by her husband, Greg; and her children, Dr. Jennifer Pritchard of Severn, Maryland (Jon Hoerner), Ryan Pritchard of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Dr. Alan Pritchard of Columbus, Ohio (Kate Ren); and her sister, Patty Moore.
Arrangements are entrusted to W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home, Newport News, VA. A spring memorial service is being planned and further details will be announced.
We will forever miss Brenda. May she rest in peace.
