Virginia Beach – We are sad to announce Molly Firey's passing on February 21, 2024, after an extended battle with Parkinson's Disease. Molly was born in Buffalo, New York in 1936 and grew up in the town of Hamburg, New York. Here she stood out as Hamburg High School's head majorette where she caught the eye of Roger Firey, who would become her loving husband for over 50 years. Roger devoted 23 years of his life to active service in the Navy, including several tours in Vietnam; post graduate school in Monterey and shore duty that focused on Naval computer and electrical systems. He received numerous awards and Molly was his close partner throughout his military journey.

Molly and Roger shared an insatiable appetite for adventure, which fueled them to circumnavigate the globe three times on a 32-foot sailboat named SUNDOWNER. Their travels led them to countless adventures, including riding camels in Egypt; going on safari in South Africa; having dinners with royalty; going on a Hash run in Malaysia with close friends, who were natives of Lumut, Perak, Malaysia. Their sailing achievements were recognized with the prestigious Seven Sea Cruising Assoc. Award, given by the Seven Seas Cruising Association. Both Molly and Roger were Commodores in the international association for many years.

Molly had many interests including gardening, cooking, fitness and fashion. She will always be remembered as having ‘the tallest beehive in the PTA.' Molly is survived by three children, Peter and his wife Jeanne of Vienna VA, Lynda and her husband Steve of Seattle, WA and Michael and his wife Susan of Corolla, NC; six grandchildren: Peter Jr., Melanie, Laura, Sam, Lawson and Dylan; and five great grandchildren: Maeve, Neil, Owen, Scarlett and Madeline. Molly is also survived by many friends and extended family, who miss her already. A celebration of Molly's life will be held on Tuesday, February 27th, 2024 at 11 am at Westminster Canterbury on Shore Drive. Any memorial can be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
