Our beloved Father, Papa, and Father-in-Law Edward Morgan Gibson, 83 departed this life unexpectedly due to sudden illness on Saturday, March 30, 2024. Ed has been a resident of Pamplin, VA since 2014 and previously lived with his family in Newport News, VA.

He graduated from Warwick High School, received his Bachelor's Degree from Richmond Professional Institute, now known as VCU, and a Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work from Norfolk State University. He worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker until 1980 when he purchased Ducks Roofing Company which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2009. During his college years, Ed was fortunate to have met and married the love of his life, Gloria Gilliam Gibson, in 1963. They remained married until Gloria's passing last year.

Ed enjoyed being active and spending time with his family and friends. He played football in high school, played tennis, enjoyed boating, crabbing, hunting, and fishing. Ed spent many family vacations in the Outer Banks where he loved to surf fish with his children. Family was paramount to Ed, and he had a special bond with his children, Scott and Dana, their spouses Lora and Jeff, and his grandchildren, Ryan and Ben. Ed and Gloria would travel over an hour each way on weeknights to see Ryan and Ben play soccer. Ed also liked to have fun! He had a great sense of humor, appreciated a good joke and had a great smile, along with an infectious laugh that will be deeply missed.

In Newport News he was a member of the Warwick Moose Lodge and a Master Mason at Transportation Lodge #337 AF&AM. Early in his retirement he and Gloria moved to a farm in Pamplin, VA where they joined Memorial Methodist Church in Appomattox. He remained an active member and made many friends. While on the farm he raised chickens, gardened and spent time with his beloved horse, Kentucky, as well as rescuing several dogs and cats that became part of their family.
