Judith Deel Kovac

-

Judith Deel Kovac, 81, went to be with the Lord on March 28, 2024. A wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great aunt, friend, teacher, coach—the many hats she wore and diverse roles she played endeared her to all.

Born in Charleston, West Virginia to Dewitt and Cutie Alpha Deel, Judi eventually moved to York County, Virginia to raise her family. As her children and grandchildren grew older, she would create ways to spend time with them, wherever they were. Making memories in Montana with her grandchildren who live there, or welcoming her great-grandchildren to the world in North Carolina—her love and presence would find her family, however far she had to travel.

She loved Jesus, her family, and she loved other people. Raised in the Church of God, she spent the latter part of her earthly life in the Methodist Church.

Realizing her passion was investing in the lives of children, she earned her degree in education in her 40s. This led her to teach elementary and middle school in York County for 14 years, shaping countless young lives in untold ways. As a sports enthusiast, she also was a coach for high school cheerleaders.

She was active in her women's circle at church and the retired teachers of York County. She also enjoyed swimming, traveling, and reading.

Judi was preceded in death by her daughter, Alexandra Lynn Kovac; her son, Roger Charles Kovac, Jr., her parents Dewitt and Alpha Deel, her brother Ernest Jack Deel and sister Delores Fae Steele-Howell. She is survived by her loving husband, Roger C. Kovac of Sebastian, FL; daughters, Stacie Beasley of Edenton, NC and Taryn Kovac of Spokane, WA; Grandchildren, Sydney Beasley, Stafford Beasley and his wife Leslie, Kalliah Creek Jones, and Sera Kovac, She is also survived by three great grandchildren, Parker, Xander and Lydia, her sister Vivian Legg and brother Brooks Deel both from West Virginia as well as numerous other loving family members in Hampton Roads, Virginia, West Virginia, Florida, and Pennsylvania. A graveside memorial service will be held at Providence United Methodist on Old Dare Road in Yorktown, Virginia on Saturday, April 20 at 1:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to American Heart Association 4217 Park Place Ct. Glen Allen, VA 23060. Arrangements by Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, Va.
