Support Smasal
Recently, Congresswoman Jen Kiggans sent a personal fundraising letter to her constituents in which she expressed pride in her accomplishments; however, she failed to name any.
Considering her vote last year on the GOP’s plan to force spending cuts of about $4.8 trillion, it’s questionable whether her pride in her record is warranted.
Before her “yea” vote, she feebly protested the repeal of the clean-energy investments tax credits, particularly for wind energy. Thanks to those credits, Southeastern Virginia had been attracting investment and new manufacturing jobs for her constituents. The same bill cut veterans’ health programs for her military constituents. She has since sponsored a bill to increase access in national park facilities for disabled veterans, but gaining park access while losing health care is no gain. The veterans would have been shafted had the spending cuts bill become law.
Her letter included fear-mongering on the “wide open border” and “unrest around the world,” yet she watches as the speaker of the House refuses to place the critical Ukraine aid and bipartisan border bills before the House. Vital Ukraine support has been delayed for six months.
Another fear was “the appearance of corruption in the (President Joe) Biden family,” while the Republican presidential candidate is out on bond and facing roughly 90 felony counts. Biden is not hawking T-shirts with his mug shot.
Finally, she claimed a desire for individual freedoms. Hey, I want my reproductive freedom back. My donation is going to Missy Cotter Smasal who will better represent me and others in Virginia’s 2nd District.
