New hotel will boast oceanfront vistas
VIRGINIA BEACH — If dining al fresco 23 stories above the beach sounds like your cup of tea, then the Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront will be the spot.
The hotel under construction on the ocean side of the Cavalier at 42nd Street will feature a rooftop restaurant with an outdoor, south-facing terrace. Guests will have a sweeping view of the ocean and the resort area. Indoor seating will include views of the North End and the Cape Henry lighthouses. It will open in the spring 2020.
Construction workers raised the last beam on the roof during a “topping out” ceremony Wednesday.
The hotel will have 305 guest rooms and the largest ballroom in Virginia Beach, at nearly 11,000 square feet, according to Kurt Krause, managing director of Gold Key|PHR, the development company. Within five years, the property could encompass 500 guest rooms, four pools with 700 employees, according to Krause.
