Stopping infection

-

The border wall does not solve the root problems of migration to the U.S. The root problem is that the governments of Mexico, Central America, and South America are communist, socialist, and/or corrupt.

Thus we have a constant flood of people who wish to travel from their lousy economies to our growing one. But we cannot bear the costs of their arrival, as they add to the burdens of health care and other welfare, and it is clear that embedded among them are terrorists and criminal gang members.

A bandage, however, does not cure the wound it covers. It prevents bacteria and other contaminants from entering and causing an infection. The wall does not solve the problems of the left-wing corrupt governments to our south, but it prevents our being infected with the same sociopolitical diseases. The wall is a BandAid.

Because a bandage does not cure the wound, should we eschew the bandage? Brooks A. Mick, M.D. Yorktown
