Delaware man arrested

A Delaware man was arrested in Hampton on Wednesday and charged in an attempted traffic stop during which windows on a Maryland state trooper's car were shot out.

Troopers attempted to stop a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero for speeding shortly after midnight on Jan. 11 on Harrison Ferry Road in Dorchester County, Md., according to a news release from Maryland State Police. Shots were fired from the driver's side window at troopers.

A state police Ford Explorer SUV was hit several times, knocking out the rear and rear passenger's side windows.

Troopers did not return fire and no one was injured, according to the release.

Police found the Alero in a back alley in Seaford, Del., the next day and identified the driver as 20-year-old Isaiah Peppers of Magnolia, Del., police said in the release.

Maryland state police, working with the U.S. Marshal's Service and other police agencies, arrested Peppers shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday while walking in the 900 block of North King Street in Hampton.

He had a .38 caliber revolver in his backpack and ammunition in his pockets, according to the news release.

He was taken to the Hampton City Jail and charged with crimes including attempted firstand second-degree murder.

Maryland State police said they will seek to extradite him back to the state after his arraignmen­t in Hampton.
