As we wait for the sports world to return, we’re occasionally looking back at some of our favorite Virginian-Pilot and Daily Press Sports stories. The following story appeared in The Pilot in June 2012 — the day after the Norfolk Admirals won their first Calder Cup. During that season the Admirals won a pro hockey-record 29 consecutive games. A few days after winning the title in Toronto, the team was welcomed back to Norfolk with a parade through downtown.
