Towns’ mom dies from coronavirus
Jacqueline Cruz-Towns, the mother of Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns, died Monday due to complications from COVID-19 after more than a month of fighting the virus.
The Timberwolves made the announcement via the Towns family, which requested privacy. Karl Towns Sr., the father of the two-time All-Star player, was also hospitalized with the virus but has since recovered.
The Chicago Bulls fired general manager Gar Forman while officially hiring Denver Nuggets GM Arturas Karnisovas, a 48-year-old Lithuanian native, as their executive vice president of basketball operations. John Paxson moved into a background role as senior adviser of basketball operations after nearly two decades running the department.
Kansas guard Devon Dotson declared for the NBA draft after leading the Big 12 in scoring his sophomore season. He said he will sign with an agent, effectively ending his time with the Jayhawks.
