Renn returns as VWU’s interim AD

Joanne Renn, Virginia Wesleyan’s Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Emeritus, is returning to head the program in an interim capacity.

That announcement came late Sunday from VWU’s president, Scott D. Miller.

Renn will fill in for athletic director Tina Hill, who accepted the same position at Wilson College in Pennsylvania. The new president of Wilson, Wesley Fugate, was a longtime colleague of Hill from their time at Randolph College in Lynchburg.

Renn retired in 2018 after 11 years as AD and 25 years total with the Marlins.

“She is a trusted colleague and friend to many, and will lead the search for me for our next permanent athletic director,” Miller said in a VWU release.

No timeline has been set for the search, which will be more complicated because of the pandemic.
