354 new coronaviru­s cases reported

The Virginia Department of Health reported 354 coronaviru­s cases Monday, bringing the state’s tally to 66,102.

Of the total cases, 63,339 are confirmed and 2,763 are probable, meaning those patients are symptomati­c and have a known exposure to the illness.

At least 1,853 Virginians have died from the virus as of Monday morning. No new deaths were reported Monday.

The state’s seven-day percentage of positive tests also remained the same at 6.1%. Virginia reported 15,830 new tests were performed, bringing the total to 712,350.

The number of people currently hospitaliz­ed for COVID-19 is 783, according to the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Associatio­n. Of those, 565 have confirmed cases and 218 are awaiting test results. So far, 8,809 COVID-19 patients have been discharged. As of Monday morning, 21% of the state’s ventilator­s are in use.

Virginia Beach continues to have the highest number of cases in the region with 1,392, up 42 cases from Sunday, and 30 total deaths. Over the weekend, the city saw its largest reported daily increase at 50 on Sunday.

Norfolk also saw its largest reported daily increase Saturday at 67.

Here are the latest numbers for the rest of the region, compared to Sunday. The large number represents the number of cases reported in each locality since the pandemic began.

■ Accomack: 1,044 (no change); 14 deaths (no change)

■ Norfolk: 1,105 (up 33); 12 deaths (no change)

■ Chesapeake: 1,026 (up 11); 21 deaths (no change)

■ Newport News: 592 (up 8);10 deaths (no change)

■ Portsmouth: 549 (no change); 18 deaths (no change)

■ Suffolk: 457 (up 6); 38 deaths (no change)

■ Hampton: 376 (up 7); 5 deaths (no change)

■ James City: 297 (up 4); 15 deaths (no change)

■ Northampto­n: 272 (no change); 28 deaths (no change)

■ Isle of Wight: 194 (up 1); 9 deaths (no change)

■ York: 131 (up 2); 3 deaths (no change)

■ Williamsbu­rg: 74 (up 2); 6 deaths (no change)

■ Gloucester: 50 (no change); 1 death (no change)

■ Poquoson: 19 (no change); 0 deaths (no change)

■ Middlesex: 15 (no change); 0 deaths (no change)

■ Mathews: 6 (no change); 0 deaths (no change) In Virginia, people older than 80 account for 3,473 cases and 948 deaths. Here’s how the rest of the age groups break down for cases and deaths:

■ 70-79: 3,378 cases, 461 deaths

■ 60-69: 6,486 cases, 267 deaths

■ 50-59: 9,965 cases, 112 deaths

■ 40-49: 11,645 cases, 46 deaths

■ 30-39: 12,220 cases, 13 deaths

■ 20-29: 11,290 cases, 4 deaths

■ 10-19: 4,787 cases, 0 deaths

■ 0-9: 2,221 cases, 0 deaths

The VDH did not report ages for 637 cases and two deaths.

Since the pandemic began in Virginia, 33,269 women have had cases and 914 women have died, while 32,390 men have had cases and 929 men have died. Of the state tally, 443 cases don’t have a reported sex and 10 deaths don’t have a reported sex.
