Mark Feuerstein has ‘lucky’ career

- Tribune news services

Mark Feuerstein plays Alicia Silverstone’s love interest in Netflix’s new take on “The Baby-Sitters Club,” streaming now.

Based on the series of books by Ann M. Martin, the series follows middleschoolers who form their own babysitting business. Silverstone plays the single mom of one of them, and Feuerstein is the guy who hopes to capture her heart.

Feuerstein, who starred in “Royal Pains,” “9JKL” and “Prison Break,” reports that he appeared in several sitcoms early on that flopped.

“The joke for me for the first 10 years of my career was the Barron’s guide to the SAT sat on my shelf. And I could take an LSAT and go into the profession that has defined my family — a bunch of lawyers.

“But I have been lucky enough to work consistently enough. I think it’s easier as a guy than a girl. You get nine lives as a male actor, and so I’m on my seventh. I’ve been lucky to work with so many wonderful people — everyone from Mel Gibson to Tommy Lee Jones to Samuel Jackson, Toni Collette. I can never complain. When I show up on the set ... I just thank my lucky stars every day.”

Mandy Moore responds to Ryan Adams’ apology:

Singer and “This Is Us” star Mandy Moore — one of several women who accused her ex-husband, singer-songwriter Ryan Adams, of sexual misconduct or abusive behavior — spoke about the public apology he issued over the weekend, in which he said in part, “There are no words to express how bad I feel about the ways I’ve mistreated people throughout my life and career.”

“It’s challenging because I feel like in many ways I’ve said all I want to say about him and that situation,” she told Hoda Kotb on NBC News’ “Today” show Monday. “But I find it curious that someone would make a public apology but not do it privately,” noting that she hasn’t been in contact with him recently.

“I am speaking for myself, but I have not heard from him, and I’m not looking for an apology necessarily,” she continued. “But I do find it curious that someone would do an interview about it without actually making amends privately.”

Singer Tom Meighan leaves Kasabian:

Frontman Tom Meighan has left British rockers Kasabian to deal with “personal issues,” the band said Monday.

Kasabian said in a statement that Meighan “is stepping down from the band by mutual consent.

Tom has struggled with personal issues that have affected his behavior for quite some time and now wants to concentrate all his energies on getting his life back on track.”

Founded in the English city of Leicester in 1997, Kasabian released its self-titled first album in 2004 and became one of the U.K.’s biggest live and recorded acts. The band has released six albums and headlined major music festivals.
