Mayor’s race

-

With a humble upbringing, her father collected coupons and her mother owned only one dress that she wore to church every Sunday. Today she is an accomplished attorney, a community volunteer, an effective leader and a former secretary of finance and former treasurer of the commonwealth. More yet, she has created a successful, national manufacturing business. And she, Jody Wagner, wants to be the next mayor of the city of Virginia Beach.

We seldom have the perfect applicant for a job, but Wagner’s competency, experience and accomplishments make her one. Wagner has the needed skill set to bring people together as she did for a bipartisan, balanced budget in the commonwealth. As the finance director of the state, she knew where to trim the fat and produce revenue. As an attorney, she is a trained negotiator. Owning her popcorn business, Wagner appreciates the struggles and joys of a business owner: creating jobs and meeting payroll. She has built a network across the country while she worked in Richmond. This will help Virginia Beach with our much-needed resources.

We are facing an unprecedented time with a host of challenges and uncertainty. We need experienced, decisive and effective leadership. Wagner is that leader. We are fortunate to have her applying for the job. By electing Wagner to be the next mayor of Virginia Beach, the ultimate victory will belong to us — the city of Virginia Beach.
