Police searching for double homicide suspect

Hampton Police are searching for a man wanted in connection to a double homicide Thursday night, according to a news release.

Torrey R. Whitlow, 35, has multiple warrants on file.

Charges include two counts of murder, three counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, one count of aggravated malicious wounding, one count of dischargin­g a firearm in public and one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling.

The killings happened at 5:41p.m., police said. Dispatcher­s received a call about a shooting in the 200 block of Apple Avenue.

Officers found two men and one woman who had been shot.

Two of the victims — Maurice Bailey, 25, and Lois Bailey, 50 — were pronounced dead at the scene. The third victim was taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatenin­g, police said.

Police spokesman R.C. Williams said Thursday night that they believed it was an isolated incident. Some vehicles in the area were also hit by gunfire, Williams said.

On Friday afternoon, Williams wrote in an email that the deceased victims were related. He said police are “unable to disclose any informatio­n regarding the third victim in the interest of preserving his privacy.”

“The suspect is not related to the victims but the involved parties were known to each other,” Williams wrote.
