Course record gives Schauffele lead

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Xander Schauffele fired a course-record 8-under-par 64 Friday to go to 14 under par and move ahead by three strokes halfway through the PGA Tour’s CJ Cup at Shadow Creek.

Tyrrell Hatton was in second place. He shot 68 Friday after firing a 65 Thursday, which equaled the course record at the time.

Russell Henley finished 36 holes at 10 under to hold third place, with Talor Gooch at 9 under and Collin Morikawa and Jason Kokrak sharing fifth at 8 under.

The first round of the PGA Tour Champions’ Dominion Energy Charity Classic in Richmond was postponed Friday because of rain. The general public isn’t permitted at the event, which will start at 7:30 a.m. today on the Country Club of Virginia’s James River Course in hopes of completing 36 holes.
