Vote for clean air

-

If you want to vote for clean air and water, you have a clear choice in the upcoming election. You’ll mark your ballot for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and vice presidential nominee Sen. Kamala Harris. “Pressure needed to reach Bay clean-up goals” (Our Views, Oct. 6) stated, “The Trump administration has been on a campaign to reverse much of the environmental progress made in recent decades, and today’s EPA has been part of a wholesale gutting of environmental regulations and protections. The administration has also tried annually to slash funds for the Chesapeake Bay Program.”

Along with the withdrawal from the Paris climate accord, the Trump administration has taken 74 deregulatory actions to weaken rules that protect our nation’s air and water and address climate change.

More toxic emissions are allowed and thousands of miles of waterways have been left unprotected. Additionally, the Environmental Protection Agency has failed to support the Chesapeake Bay Clean Water Blueprint that has been key in reducing pollution in the bay.

The Biden-Harris platform includes environmental protection and addressing climate change. Clean air and water are vital for a healthy economy and citizenry. We need support and protective action from our government agencies. We need to elect a president who cares about the health of our citizens and realizes the value of clean air and clean water.
