William & Mary

senior guard Luke Loewe was named to the NABC All-District second team. He averaged 16.2 points per game.

senior guard Davion Warren was selected to the NABC All-District III first team. He led the Big South Conference with 21.3 points a game.

Hampton Landstown High

alum Michael Christmas and Oscar Smith grad TJ Taylor, who have been playing for James Madison, have entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to Harrisonburg’s Daily News-Record. Christmas averaged six points and 3.5 rebounds off the bench this season. Taylor played in just seven games and scored 12 points for the CAA regular-season co-champions.

Ex-Hokie Taylor headed to Texans

Former Hampton High and Virginia Tech star Tyrod Taylor has reached an agreement on a one-year deal with the Houston Texans worth up to $12.5 million, ESPN reported.

Taylor started one game last season before a freak accident which resulted in the Chargers’ team doctor puncturing the quarterback’s lung. Rookie Justin Herbert took over from there and started the rest of the season.

This will be the fifth team Taylor has played for in the NFL. His best season has come when he was with Buffalo in 2015. He started 14 games and passed for 3,035 yards with 20 touchdowns, six interceptions, 568 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

Meanwhile, the Texans waived defensive lineman Andrew Brown, a former University of Virginia and Oscar Smith High star.

Orioles option five players to Tides

The Baltimore Orioles optioned infielder Rylan Bannon, outfielder Yusniel Diaz, pitcher Ashton Goudeau, outfielder Ryan McKenna and infielder Tyler Nevin to Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday.

Bannon, Diaz and McKenna all made good impressions on Orioles manager Brandon Hyde this spring, but are too far down on the depth chart.

The Tides are scheduled to open the season May 4.
