The proceedings surrounding the House of Representatives’ censure of

Rep. Paul Gosar for his anime on social media that depicted him killing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and attacking President Joe Biden, shows how far we have deluded ourselves into believing that all is fair in politics.

We need no integrity, no moral scruples, and no sense of truth or honesty.

The Democrats tried to take the high road, showing their base that they believe in proper decorum in the legislative branch of government. The Republicans decided this was a great time to remind their base that Democrats are evil and the president is incompetent. Each side will immediately translate the proceedings into fundraisers for reelection. The issue involved deserves serious consideration, but pales to what has been going on in politics for the past 20 years. The speech by Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy epitomizes everything that is wrong in politics today. He spent the entire time saying how badly Democrats have behaved in Congress without censure, and why should something be done now.

During all of this, I kept thinking why isn’t there anyone like Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Patrick Henry, Alexander Hamilton or Abraham Lincoln in politics today?

People keep saying, “we are a great country,” but we do not have great leaders. We may be the wealthiest nation on the planet with the most powerful military weapons, but we are pitifully lacking in leaders with integrity, honor, or any suggestions of a moral code. God forbid that someone would stand up for the ideas in the Constitution. Rest in peace my Founding Fathers for I fear these beliefs died with you.
