- Staff, wire reports

Jerome Savoy hit a tie-breaking 3-pointer with 10 seconds to go as Pfeiffer overcame Virginia Wesleyan 67-64 Monday in a non-conference game at TowneBank Arena, though fifth-year senior Tim Fisher scored a career-high 31 points for the Marlins (3-3).

VWU, which trailed 34-29 at halftime and then 52-42, got back-to-back baskets from Anthony Jackson to go ahead 58-57. The score was close the rest of the way, with Fisher hitting a free throw to tie the game at 64 with 18 seconds to go.

After Savoy’s 3-pointer gave him 17 points for the Falcons (3-2), Fisher’s shot to tie rimmed away, leaving him 13 of 19 from the field. He also had 13 rebounds.
