Fall from grace

-

Every day you read more news articles about parents challenging school boards and teachers about what they are exposing our children to. I applaud this effort by parents to take responsibility for their children’s upbringing. Teachers have a tough job, but they are human like the rest of us. There are lots of great teachers who focus on helping our children get the education they need to succeed in life. There are also lots of teachers who think it is their job to mold children to fit a image they support. This is when things go sideways.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention just reported depression is at the highest level ever for school-age girls. The Chicago school district just reported that 55 schools reported none of their students are proficient in reading or math. So what have these teachers been doing all year? I am sure all this is being blamed on the fact that reading, writing and math are racist by nature. Record numbers of parents are home-schooling their children. When teachers are challenged by misguided government rules that go beyond the basics of education, everyone loses.

Those on the left likes to argue they are protecting children; they would have to show us how this “protection” leads to a better outcome. Instead all signs indicate that they are hurting children by confusing them and undermining the basics of learning. The left likes to talk about books being banned; no books have been banned. I can go on Amazon and buy every one of those books; it is a false argument.
