■ Virginia head coach Tony Elliott said Tuesday that quarterback Tony Muskett’s health has improved “beyond emergency duty,” but is still day-today for Friday night’s game against North Carolina State. Muskett suffered a shoulder injury in the fourth quarter of the season opener against Tennessee and hasn’t played in the past two games. Elliott also said safety Antonio Clary had ankle surgery and should return late in the season and wide receiver Demick Starling isn’t playing and is expected to transfer after the season.

Pry also said that Grant Wells and Kyron Drones will compete this week for the starting quarterback job. Drones played all of the Rutgers game, throwing for 190 yards with a touchdown and an interception and leading the Hokies with 74 rushing yards.

■ Christopher Newport’s Connor Barry and Gavin Hall have been named the Offensive Rookie of the Week and Defensive Rookie of the Week, respectively, in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.
