Grafton earns shot vs. defending champ

CLASS 3 REGION A QUARTERFINALS

Grafton 5, Lakeland 0: Taylor Secrist had two goals and Ashtyn Blackburn had three assists Thursday as the fourth-seeded Clippers beat the fifth-seeded Cavaliers.

Savannah Cherry and Emma Bryant each had a goal and an assist, and Sophie Erlich also scored.

Lakeland’s Teya Ferrell made nine saves.

Grafton earned a semifinal berth Tuesday against defending state champion Tabb, the No. 1 seed. The Tigers ousted eighthseeded Lafayette.

York 6, Bruton 0: Lexi Anderson, Riley Hunter, Chevelle Claypool and Ella Caldwell all scored and assisted for the third-seeded Falcons against the sixth-seeded Panthers.

York next will play a semifinal Tuesday against the winner between second-seeded Poquoson and seventh-seeded New Kent.

First Colonial 11, Salem 0: Grace Dixon and Jolie Day each scored four goals as the top-seeded Patriots (14-1) romped past their Beach District rivals on Wednesday, extending their winning streak to 13 games.

Elyse Hinkel, Eva Uhrin and Emme Kane each scored, and

Parker Rowell posted her 11th shutout of the season.

First Colonial plays No. 5 seed Great Bridge in a 3 p.m. semifinal today at Green Run. The Wildcats won the previous three Class 4 state championships before moving this school year into Class 5.

Great Bridge 4, Kempsville 2:

Lily Johnson led the Wildcats with two goals, while Lexi Curtis added one of Great Bridge’s three third-quarter goals and had two assists. Cameron Butler scored twice for the Chiefs in the fourth quarter, once on a penalty stroke.

Princess Anne 3, Kellam 2: Sydney Raguini scored twice and Emerson Eaves added a goal as the second-seeded Cavaliers earned a semifinal today against Cox — a 4-0 winner over Ocean Lakes.

CLASS 6 REGION A QUARTERFINALS Grassfield 5, Oscar Smith 0:

EG Hatcher had two goals and an assist as the No. 3 seed Grizzlies advanced to a semifinal Monday at second-seeded Glen Allen, which eliminated Landstown.

MacKenna Scott had a goal and an assist, Hanna Smith and Kaydence Holland each scored a goal and Meghan McDonald had two assists for Grassfield. Cali Hyman had the shutout for the Grizzlies.

Western Branch 2, Thomas Dale 0:

The fourth-seeded Bruins shut out the Knights and advanced to Monday’s semifinal at top-seeded Cosby.
