UVA 4th, Va. Tech eighth in ACC poll
Virginia was predicted fourth and Virginia Tech eighth in the Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball preseason poll.
Duke, last season’s ACC Tournament champion, was the favorite on 44 of 51 ballots. Second-place Miami led five ballots, while third-place North Carolina and UVA received one vote each.
The Cavaliers’ Reece Beekman joined Duke’s Kyle Filipowski, North Carolina’s Armando Bacot, Clemson’s PJ Hall and Miami’s Norchad Omier on the preseason first team.
Filipowski was the Preseason Player of the Year, and the Tar Heels’ Elliot Cadeau was the Preseason Rookie of the Year. One voter chose former Landstown High star Donald Hand Jr., who tore his anterior cruciate ligament in Boston College’s second game last season, for Rookie of the Year.
