Charles "Pete" R. Greene, Jr.

Charles “Pete” Russell Greene, Jr., 88, passed away November 23, 2023. He was born in Russell, KY the son of the late Charles Russell Greene, Sr. and Velma Blanche Sloan Greene. He was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Jo Ann Mae Creekmore Greene; and brother, Carol Joe “Bub” Greene. Pete was in the United States Marine Corps for 6 years attaining the rank of Sergeant. Following his time in the military, Pete spent 12 years in the Norfolk Police Department, retiring as the rank of Sergeant. Pete's career continued at Newport News Shipbuilding where he worked for 22 years, retiring as the Assistant Director of Security. Pete is survived by his daughter, Susanne Elizabeth Greene; sons, David Jeffrey “Jeff” Greene (Maria Alvarez), Michael Joseph “Joe” Greene (Marie); grandsons, Cory Greene (Erin), Ean Greene (Summer), and Justin Greene; and great granddaughter, Madelyn Greene. A graveside service will be held Monday, December 11, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation Sunday afternoon from 4 - 5 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, VA.
