Notre Dame WR to transfer to UVA

-

Notre Dame’s leading wide receiver announced Tuesday on social media that he will transfer to the University of Virginia.

Chris Tyree, a Chester, Virginia, native and former Thomas Dale High star, will return to his home state. A fivestar recruit by 247Sports, he has caught 26 passes for 484 yards and three touchdowns this season. He’s averaged 18.6 yards per reception.

Last season, Tyree split time between running back and wide receiver. He rushed for 444 yards and three touchdowns on 100 carries and caught 24 passes for 138 yards and two scores.

Tyree finished his high school career as an Under Armour All-American.

Meanwhile, five UVA players have announced they will enter the transfer portal, according to reports: running back Amaad Foston, cornerback Ant Fisher, wide receiver Demick Starling (who left the team during the season), defensive end Jonathan Horton and linebacker Sam Brady.

The portal officially opened late Monday night.

Foston rushed for 29 yards on five carries. None of the other players posted any statistics this season.

Also, Cole Geer, a 6-foot-1, 195-pound, dual-threat quarterback from Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts, revealed on his social media that he has committed to Virginia. Geer chose UVA over offers from Virginia Tech, Boston College, Connecticut and UMass.

A consensus three-star recruit, Geer is ranked the No. 16 quarterback in the nation for his class by ESPN. He is also ranked as the No. 3 overall player in Massachusetts by On3 and the No. 2 prospect by ESPN.

Geer is a high school teammate of ‘24 UVA commit Tristan Ward, a wide receiver for Deerfield.
