Hokies protect ACC lead

Elizabeth Kitley and Georgia Amoore each recorded double-doubles Saturday as No. 12 Virginia Tech beat 18th-ranked Louisville 86-70.

Kitley scored 26 points, shooting 12 of 16, and grabbed 13 rebounds for the visiting Hokies (22-4, 13-2), who lead the Atlantic Coast Conference. Amoore scored 23 points, shooting 9 of 11 — including 3 of 4 from 3-point range — and distribute­d 10 assists. Tech shot 65.4% (34 of 52).

Former James Madison star Kiki Jefferson scored 19 points for Louisville (21-6, 11-4).

No. 6 North Carolina State 86, Georgia Tech 85, OT:

Former Princess Anne High star Aziaha James scored 30 points for the host Wolfpack (23-3, 11-3 ACC), who held on in overtime.

No. 19 Syracuse 85, Virginia 79:

Despite Camryn Taylor’s 20 points and eight rebounds and Kymora Johnson’s 15 points and 10 assists, the Cavaliers (12-13, 4-10) fell to the Orange (22-5, 12-3). Syracuse’s Dyaisha Fair scored 33 points on 13-of-23 shooting, including 5-of-10 from beyond the arc.

Campbell 57, William & Mary 46:

The Tribe (12-11, 8-4 Colonial Athletic Associatio­n) lost in Buies Creek, North Carolina, to the Camels (13-11, 16-7), who outscored them 17-6 in the fourth quarter.

W&M’s Nylah Young had 20 points and five rebounds, while teammate Cassidy Geddes had 11 points. The Tribe is in fifth place, trailing Monmouth by one game for the fourth and final bye in the conference tournament.

No. 1 South Carolina 70, Georgia 56:

Kamilla Cardoso had 16 points and 16 rebounds for the host Gamecocks (25-0, 12-0), who rallied to win their record 43rd straight Southeaste­rn Conference regular-season game. The Gamecocks trailed 37-28 early in the third quarter to the Bulldogs (11-14, 2-10).

The visiting Bruins (20-5, 9-5 Pac-12) won behind Lauren Betts’ 17 points and nine rebounds.

No. 9 UCLA 74, Oregon 55: No. 10 Southern California 58, No. 11 Oregon 50:

JuJu Watkins scored 18 points for the visiting Trojans (20-4, 10-4 Pac-12).

Late Saturday Lynchburg 74, Virginia Wesleyan 40:

The Marlins (3-22, 1-17), who finished last in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, ended their season with a road loss to the Hornets (14-11, 9-9).
