W&M finishes three-game sweep of UMass Lowell

William & Mary (6-1) finished a three-game sweep of UMass Lowell via a 10-0 victory Sunday at Plumeri Park.

Winner Nate Knowles (1-0) pitched four innings, giving up four hits, and relievers Carter Lovasz, Luke Calveric, Hank Lippman and Owen Pierce combined to pitch five hitless innings.

Henry Jackson was 3 for 4 with three runs, Luca Trigiani was 3 for 3 with three RBIs and Luke Carmichael scored twice.

Old Dominion 9, Rutgers 5: The host Monarchs (4-3) ended a three-game skid by overcoming a 5-0 deficit to hand the Scarlet Knights (5-1) their first defeat.

Luke Waters ignited ODU’s six-run fourth with a two-run homer. He was 2 for 3 with four RBIs and two runs, Steven Meier was 1 for 1 with three runs and an RBI, and Alex Bouche drove in two runs.

Manhattan 6, Norfolk State Trevor Hansen had three hits 4: and three RBIs to help the Jaspers (3-3) defeat the Spartans (2-5) to complete a three-game sweep in Norfolk.

Raphael Rodriguez drove in two runs for NSU, while Jamal Ritter scored a run and stole a base. Manny Jackson was 3 for 5 with a run, and Cam Mazell had two hits and an RBI.

Manhattan won 5-2 and 14-1 in a Saturday doublehead­er. Jackson was 3 for 5 in Game 2.

No. 14 Virginia 6, Auburn 4: Western Branch High graduate Harrison Didawick was 2 for 5 with an RBI for the Cavaliers in Jacksonvil­le, Florida, as they improved to 7-0. Griff O’Ferrall was 2 for 5 and scored twice.

Virginia Tech 14, Rhode Island 2: Ocean Lakes High graduate Carson DeMartini doubled, tripled, scored three runs and drove in one as the Hokies (5-2) finished a three-game sweep in Blacksburg. Griffin Stieg pitched five shutout innings.

Penn State Harrisburg 7, Virginia Wesleyan 3: Marcell Whitfield scored twice and was one of seven Marlins with a hit, but VWU (4-5) lost at home to the Lions (3-1). Kevin Lehner’s grand slam in the sixth erased the Marlins’ 2-1 lead.

Apprentice 11-8, Bucks County Community College 1-4: The Builders (13-2) swept a doublehead­er from the Centurions of Newtown, Pennsylvan­ia, for the second straight day. Riggs Ellis, Jeremy Harmon and Kyle Whitlock drove in two runs each in Sunday’s Game 1. Winner Nick Redman struck out six in four innings.

Harmon also had two RBIs in Game 2, when Apprentice overcame a 3-0 first-inning deficit.

Brunswick Community College 8, Bryant & Stratton 4: The Bobcats (7-6) were swept in a three-game series, having lost 13-3 and 6-5 in a doublehead­er Saturday.
