-

Ann Frances Sekerke Bunn, 77, passed from this life to the next on Friday, February 23, 2024. She was born at Langley Air Force Base. Ann graduated from Ferguson High School and as valedictorian from Emory and Henry College. She spent her life as a teacher both in schools and her church. She spent most of her teaching career at Palmer Elementary in Newport News, VA. Her greatest joy came from helping others learn and grow. She served tirelessly as an English as Second Language volunteer and gave countless hours of service to mission and outreach causes including mission trips to South Korea and India. Anyone who knew Ann knew she never sought the spotlight for herself and took immense joy doing all the behind-the-scenes things that allowed others to shine.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Joseph and Pamilia Ruth Sekerke and her brother, Jerry Charles Sekerke. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Robert Wilton Bunn, Sr.; her mother-in-law, Ruby Spady Bunn, and brother-in-law, Raymond Winston Bunn, Jr.; her children, Robert Wilton Bunn, Jr. (Ginger Bunn), Traci Bunn Powers (Bruce P Powers, IV), Lori Bunn Janke (Tobias Janke) and her beloved 7 grandchildren, Ann, Abby, and Brett Powers, Winston, Wesley, and Charlie Bunn, and Liam Janke; her brother, Henry Joseph Sekerke, Jr. and her sister by choice, Reba Dowdy Burkett, as well as 5 nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Michelle Bergeron, Sharon Hargis, Karen Johnson, Gwyn Yates, and Connie and Terry Minnick for the tangible expressions of love shown to our family during this difficult time. A Memorial Service will be held at Orcutt Baptist Church on Saturday, March 2, at 11:00 am followed by a family visitation and a reception in the church fellowship hall. Ann was thrifty with money but generous with love and would be furious that we spent money on this obituary. To honor her memory, do something selfless for another person today. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
