Bacot plays in record 162nd league contest

Armando Bacot played in his record 162nd ACC game and No. 7 North Carolina overpowere­d Notre Dame 84-51 on senior night Tuesday to clinch at least a share of the regular-season conference championsh­ip.

The fifth-year player who holds the school’s record for career rebounds and double-doubles checked out to a standing ovation with about three minutes remaining. Scoring his last basket at Smith Center on a 3-pointer, Bacot finished the night with 14 points and five rebounds.

RJ Davis, who also might have played his final game at home, had 22 points and six assists for the Tar Heels (24-6, 16-3).

Tae Davis led Notre Dame (12-18, 7-12) with 11 points.

More ACC Georgia Tech 70, Wake Forest 69:

Miles Kelly scored 19 points, Baye Ndongo made a game-winning shot with 0.4 seconds left and Georgia Tech (14-16, 7-12) held off Wake Forest (18-12, 10-9) in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Pittsburgh 88, Florida State 73:

Blake Hinson scored 27 points, Jaland Lowe added 17 and Pittsburgh (20-10, 11-8) stayed in control most of the way in beating Florida State (15-15, 9-10) at home.

PJ Hall scored 25 points, Ian Schieffeli­n recorded a double-double and Clemson (21-9, 11-8) took the season series against Syracuse (20-11, 11-9) with a home victory.

Clemson 90, Syracuse 75: Top 25 No. 3 Purdue 77, No. 12 Illinois 71:

Zach Edey had 28 points and eight rebounds as visiting Purdue (27-3, 16-3) rallied in the second half to beat Illinois (22-8, 13-6), becoming

the first team in 17 years to win consecutiv­e outright Big Ten regular-season championsh­ips.

No. 13 Auburn 101, Missouri 74:

Johni Broome had 17 points and eight rebounds to lead five players in double figures as Auburn (23-7, 12-5 SEC) bested last-place Missouri (8-22, 0-17) on the road.

No. 14 Kansas 90, Kansas State 68:

Kevin McCullar Jr. had 19 points in his Allen Fieldhouse farewell, Hunter Dickinson added 15 points and 20 rebounds and Kansas (22-8, 10-7 Big 12) snapped a two-game skid with a rout of Kansas State (17-13, 7-10) at home.

Florida 105, No. 16 Alabama 87:

Will Richard scored 23 points,

Walter Clayton Jr. added 22 and Florida (21-9, 11-6) beat Alabama (20-10, 12-5) at home to stay in contention for a top four seed in the upcoming SEC Tournament.

UNLV 62, No. 21 San Diego State 58:

Dedan Thomas scored 19 points and made a tiebreakin­g jumper with 18.6 seconds left to lift host UNLV (19-10, 12-5 Mountain West) over San Diego State (22-8, 11-6).

No. 24 South Florida 85, Tulane 72:

Chris Youngblood had 29 points and five assists as South Florida (23-5, 16-1 American Athletic) extended its winning streak to 15 games with a win over Tulane (13-16, 4-13) in Tampa.

No. 25 Dayton 100, Saint Louis 83:

Daron Holmes II had 25 points and 13 rebounds, and Koby Brea and Kobe Elvis each hit five 3-pointers as visiting Dayton (23-6, 13-4 Atlantic 10) snapped a three-game road losing streak with a win over Saint Louis (11-19, 4-13).

State

Duquesne 69, VCU 59: Dae Dae Grant had 26 points as Duquesne (19-11, 9-8 Atlantic 10) defeated VCU (19-11, 11-6) in Richmond.

Middle Tennessee 69, Liberty 61:

Elias King had 19 points as Middle Tennessee (13-17, 7-8 Conference USA) defeated Liberty (17-13, 6-9) at home.
