Divided country

-

Our country is divided over its government. One side sees former President Donald Trump as an insurrectionist, the other sees him as a patriot. One side thinks the border is out of control, the other thinks open borders are good. The list goes on. But every once in a while you get a piece of perspective from a source that you don’t expect that brings clarity to an issue.

That happened the other day on the ABC morning show. They compared what $100 would buy from March 2019-2020 compared with March 2023-2024. It was 30% less; even co-host Michael Strahan was saying, “wow.”

I know President Joe Biden thinks we have the best economy in the world, and we may, but he has helped drive consumer prices through the roof. Very few people in this country have gotten a 30% raise over the past three to four years. This added to the higher cost for gas and utilities and growing taxes, and the average person feels like he or she is going backward. So if asked if you were better off four years ago, the answer might very well be yes.

Because of this issue, the Democrats do everything they can to demonize former President Donald Trump: targeted prosecutions by partisan district attorneys and declaring an insurrection when there was none. The closest thing to an insurrection was the pro-Palestine protesters chanting, “death to America” in the streets of Michigan. The Democrats and Biden had little to nothing to say about that. They need Michigan to win the election. I don’t remember the protesters at the Capitol shouting, “death to America.” Oh, well, one person’s riot is another’s insurrection.
