BEST BET: RACE 1, READY’S PRINCESS

FIRST RACE

READY’S PRINCESS is getting a noteworthy trainer switch to Marty Drexler, who has excellent numbers with new shooters over the past two years. Following two quick half-mile works, the 3yo is descending to a new low off a wide fourth for $40K. SKY VISION broke outward before stalking the pace on the outside en route to running second at this $25K class July 9. She should be prominent with blinkers on. TYPICALLY wasn’t far behind SKY VISION in third after mounting a wide rally from far back July 9, from which the fifth and eighth-place finishers both exited to score.

SECOND RACE

THUNDER POINT has gone way up and back down the value ladder since beating $20K NW2 rivals in his May 22 season opener. He’s a good fit in this $20K NW3 tilt, with Boulanger aboard. ASTERISM is riding the wave of a two-race win streak against easier, and should be an off-the-pace threat if he stays in the zone. Contreras returns after a onerace absence on the late bloomer. FOREVER KRZ worked fast during his time off, and could handle the rest if he fires one of his better shots.

THIRD RACE

COBRA SOPHIE is getting some class relief while experimenting on turf after a lackluster doubledigit loss on the main track. The daughter of good turf sire Victor’s Cry might be ideally-suited to the seven-furlong distance of this $25K maiden claimer. ICRYWHENI’MDRUNK improved significantly in her second local outing, when second after dueling up front vs. $16K maidens. She’s logical for the bottom of exotics, along with the 13-start maiden CONQUEST RAPIDUNO, who was a troubled seventh among two next-out winners in a similar spot July 9. MILWAUKEE THUNDER is a half-sister to turf stakes winners San Nicola Thunder and San Nicola Whiskey.

FOURTH RACE

THATS ONE COOL CAT is halving in price from a key $25K contest, while changing surfaces to the Tapeta, on which she wasn’t a badly-beaten sixth in an OS maiden special in September. LADY VIOLET M is descending to a new low off a ground-saving second for $16K on the grass. Her Tapeta form is spotty, but the daughter of Munnings doesn’t have much to beat here and could finally break through. OFFICE IN THE SKY is dropping from $20K to where she probably belongs. The second and third-place finishers from that event both came back to romp, for $8K and $20K, respectively. Toss NORTHERN COLORS in the super.

FIFTH RACE

BUTTERMILK PIKE prevailed in a front-end battle before finishing a clear second when he switched to the turf while stretching out to a mile at second asking July 9. He’s since worked three-quarters in 1:15.80, which should help to set him up for the move out to nine furlongs. CONQUEST ELIMINATR is dropping off a fourth in an open maiden special going a mile and a sixteenth. He should be dangerous with Hernandez aboard. Longtime maidens MICK THE CONQUEROR and GREENFIELD are mandatory for the lower rungs of vertical bets. COLEYVILLE is a wake-up possibility.

SIXTH RACE

GIZMOTHEMOGWAIJEDI set fast fractions before folding in the lane when lengthening out to a route second-time out July 23. He’s moving up off another claim, while turning back to threequarters, which appears to be a suitable distance for him. JOVIAL JESS ran second in back-toback $12.5K tilts over six furlongs in the spring. He was dueled into submission on the front end most recently for $16K, and is being reunited with Contreras. ALERT GREEN has landed in a spot where his speed could be more effective than usual.

SEVENTH RACE

PRINCESS ROYAL showed that she can handle the turf when she narrowly lost a mile and a sixteenth route at this level July 14. She figures to lead most or all of the way this time—her main obstacle might be the nine-furlong distance. MISS MANDATE only got a 68 Beyer when taking a Tapeta event at this

class when returning to the local scene June 25, but should be a factor if things go her way. PHIL’S

GLORY is a little better on the lawn than her record would indicate. She got wiped out at the break before coming up empty last time going seven furlongs on the main track. Use her underneath in the gimmicks, along with LOVIN SPOON PHIL.

EIGHTH RACE

AWESOME AT LAST put away a rival on the lead through fast fractions before giving way grudgingly in a longer sprint July 14. He was previously second going five-eighths behind a rival who subsequently beat $20K NW2 stock. SAMMY FROM MIAMI faded in the final sixteenth after dueling up front the last time he saw action May 13. He’s been working up a storm over the past month, and should be prominent from the outset. SCARLET FORESTER checked in third behind the top pick in one of her better performances July 14. EVELYN G is plunging from a key $20K sprint in her July 1 debut, in which she had a wide trip before tiring. She should be more effective with that tightener under her girth.
