BEST BET: RACE 2, WAY TO VERSAILLES

FIRST RACE

LADY NICKY is halving in value to $20K following a short layoff, during which she worked four times, and might be poised for a wake up with Wilson taking over. ENCHANTED defeated the top pick when second July 19, but was a non-threatening fourth most recently in another $40K NW2 tilt. BOLDNPOSSIBLE figures to take a step forward while stretching out for her second race after a sabbatical.

SECOND RACE

WAY TO VERSAILLES went coast-to-coast in two of her three outings, all on the Tapeta. She’s by a high-percentage turf sire, Tizway, and could strike again in this N2X/optional claimer, in debut for trainer Kevin Attard. RUN TO THE BEAT was an effective turf sprinter last fall, and should be a factor in the second race of her form cycle. STREET CASH got bumped at the break and lacked room in the stretch before landing on the outer edges when returning from a long layoff in an identical spot July 16.

THIRD RACE

SHEZ A TEN I KNOW dueled through fast fractions before holding on for second two back at this level on the Tapeta. She came up empty in a recent turf experiment, but should rebound here with Boulanger back after a one-race absence. MY PAL KATHERINE is debuting off a rare claim by trainer Ralph Biamonte following a belated thirdplace finish behind the top pick. TORNADO CAT benefited from a flawless ride from the bug Wenc to topple $10K maidens with the addition of Lasix two weeks ago. Use her underneath in the exotics, along with SHEZTENTHEHARDWAY.

FOURTH RACE

REBEL MUSIC just missed to the future $25K-claiming winner Golden Spear when second in his last turf start when Singh was aboard July 21. Ignore his wide 10-length loss most recently in a nine-furlong Tapeta route for NW3 OS allowance types and $40K claimers. CLEVER SOUL dominated $20K NW2 foes last time on the Tapeta, which came on the heels of a narrow loss at that level on the grass. CHILL got tired from chasing the front-running favorite in his latest. He’s dropping for his first start beyond seven-eighths, and wouldn’t be a total surprise.

FIFTH RACE

NOREGRETSFORNOW placed in all three of his outings in shorter sprints, and is adding blinkers for the slight stretchout to six and a half furlongs. Note that his trainer has solid numbers with firsttime blinkers. INGE battled for the lead before fading to sixth when debuting in an OS maiden special won by Eskiminzin, who subsequently ran second in a stakes before capturing a rich stakes. SILENT RING is making his first start as a gelding following a layoff which began after he disappointed in July 23 maiden special on the dirt at Fort Erie. LIL OLD FORESTER had a wide trip when a distant fifth at first asking in a briskly-run $40K dash.

SIXTH RACE

TIDAL DANCER missed the break before taking the long way home while closing for third in his improved second race off the shelf Aug. 13. The stakes-placed homebred seems ready to find the mark. Professional maiden MICK THE CONQUEROR placed in four of his five races at the meet. He should be prominent on the turnback from 10 furlongs to a mile and a sixteenth. With blinkers on, ERADICATOR is a wild card in his first try for trainer Catherine Day Phillips, who’s 2 for 3 with new shooters over the past five years.

SEVENTH RACE

LAKE MARION is being reunited with Hernandez, who was aboard when she rallied from off slow splits to win her penultimate start going away in a seven-furlong conditioned claimer. SWEET RHAPSODY has maintained solid form throughout the meet, and should be dangerous with her tactical speed. Da Silva was aboard for both of her triumphs. THALIAS FIRE hung late when second in each of her last two races going long. Use her on the bottom of vertical wagers, along with GINGER CANDY, who’s suspect going this far.

EIGHTH RACE

SILENT SONET had a troubled trip along the inside in both of her losses in stakes company. She’s moving out a furlong to a one-turn mile in this OS turf stakes, and figures to press LISTENLINDALISTEN early with leading rider Da Silva taking over. LISTENLINDALISTEN comes off back-to-back front-running scores on the Tapeta, in a pair of OS stakes. She was a close third in her lone grass race traveling a mile over good ground in the Ontario Damsel Stakes. KADLEY rallied strongly along the inside to end up third behind the latter in the Aug. 16 Eternal Search Stakes. She was third amongst some salty older opposition in her only turf start. LISA’S ESCARPMENT is bred for the turf on the sire’s side.

NINTH RACE

RED BO is dropping to a new low off a fourthplace finish in a slow-paced $20K route, and could prevail in his third race as a gelding. SHANTY TOWN was a minor player in his last few vs. $16K and $10K maidens. THORNLEY dueled up front before tiring to finish seventh behind RED BO when halving in value Aug. 23.

TENTH RACE

FIRST PREMIO was competitive on synthetics last October in Ireland before going to the sidelines, and has worked well for his return from an extended layoff. The closer is going on Lasix, and has lots of speed to chase in this six-furlong N1X. SINGANDCRYINDUBAI ran possessed on the lead last time when beating NW3 OS allowance types on the grass. He seems equally adept on either local surface, and could be the speed of the speed. UNDERCOVER CAT raced quite wide when fifth in a recent N1X that contained two next-out winners. Use him on the bottom of intra-race wagers, along with ETHANOL and SOUPER FLY OVER.
