ANALYSIS

FIRST RACE

LASSIE’S TEARS saved ground on the turn before closing wide for second in her five-furlong debut. That should set her up nicely for the stretchout to six and a half. GIZMO’S DESTINY comes off a wide fifth in open maiden special company, and is meeting easier in this OS event. HALO LAELIA is by the superb synthetic sire Silent Name. She should fare better than she did in her opener at the Spa.

SECOND RACE

JUPITER’S EAGLE has been a bit disappointing since her narrow loss in an identical spot June 11, but may have found a field that she can handle. Two other longtime maidens, CONGENIALITY and FORESTELLA, are the other obvious protagonists.

THIRD RACE

POWER EMPIRE has worked nicely for a trainer who can have one ready to go long at first asking. The Japanese-bred by Empire Maker is bred to run all day. AVIE’S MINESHAFT should be favored off a second in her debut behind the promising Dixie Moon, but her outside draw isn’t ideal. LOOPETY LOO is moving out off a closing second behind the unbeaten favorite Summer Sunday in the restricted Muskoka Stakes. LA VIE EN ROSE galloped out strongly after ending up fourth behind AVIE’S MINESHAFT in her latest.

FOURTH RACE

ANGEL has worked encouragingly for leading trainer Casse, and is by the high-percentage debut sire Distorted Humor. Y’ALL had worked well prior to her somewhat disappointing first start, and could improve going from five to six furlongs. PERFECTION CAT made up some ground along the inside to finish third in her five-furlong opener, and is bred to run on.

FIFTH RACE

ACIANO lacked room in the stretch en route to gaining the place in a gutsy display in her first try at this N1X level Aug. 12. CRACK THAT WHIP came wide from off slow fractions to win a $25K route in her second race off the bench Aug. 27. MALIBU BONNIE had a good stalking trip before narrowly losing second to the top pick Aug. 12. TANCOOK could hit the ticket off the claim.

SIXTH RACE

UNBRIDLED JUAN has the reputation of a hanger, but the talented 5yo hasn’t competed in a sprint since his debut, and could prevail for a trainer with solid turnback numbers. MAJESTIC SLEW took four of six outings at the meet, and earned a Beyer in the low 90s in his last two excursions. CIRCLE OF FRIENDS was surprisingly flat in a recent overnight stakes for 3yos, which ended a four-race win streak. Perhaps he’ll rebound in his second race off the shelf.

SEVENTH RACE

DID YOU HEAR ME has worked quickly and is realistically spotted in this $10K maiden claimer, with the bug Wenc aboard. FRIENDSHIP RING is dropping off a third for $16K to where she should be dangerous. RELEASETHE GLACKEN looks next best.

EIGHTH RACE

QUIDURA nearly upset the mighty Lady Eli in the G1 Diana at Saratoga. That one came back to capture a G2 there, and fourth-place finisher Harmonize returned to win a G3 at the Spa. QUIDURA drew well, and figures to save ground on the best part of the course under Junior Alvarado. STARSHIP JUBILEE deadheated for the top spot with last year’s Canadian winner in her penultimate start over this course and distance. Her last race in a G2 against the boys wasn’t bad. ELYSEA’S WORLD finished a lapped-on fourth last time in a key restricted stakes at Saratoga. Use her GRIZZEL underneath in the exotics.

NINTH RACE

CONQUEST SWAGMAN is plunging from $40K to $16K, possibly because his popular owner wants to get his picture taken while he’s in town. ALLIED SUGAR RAY brings the best form to this event, a front-running second in a similar contest. RARE APPEAL could pick up some of the pieces on the turnback from a route to a long sprint.

TENTH RACE

HAWKBILL, a G1 winner in England last year, is exiting a front-running second in a G1 in Germany behind a rival who came back to capture a good G2 in France. The 4yo could make all the running in this G1 marathon, in his first start with Lasix. MESSI came flying late to narrowly lose his last race in an allowance/optional claimer at Saratoga, to a tough duo who both came back to score at the Spa. NOBLE THOUGHT ran the race of his life last time when second to the heavy favorite here in the G2 Sky Classic.

ELEVENTH RACE

BIG BAZINGA’s rider stepped off of him in the gate as it sprung the other day. He’s back at the price $25K price for which he was recently claimed, and should be prominent with his tactical speed. MOONLIGHT MALICE came from third to end up second last time in a slow-paced $20K tilt. His trainer bagged a double on Wednesday. NIIGON’S GLORY is eligible to wake up going from turf to the Tapeta.

TWELFTH RACE

LANCASTER BOMBER has been competitive against some tough company in England, and could become the first 3yo to win this G1 fixture. In a field without much speed, he should be forwardly placed. Note that he was a troubled second in the G1 BC Juvenile Turf the only time he ran with Lasix. WORLD APPROVAL won the G1 Fourstardave going away after a stalking trip at the Spa Aug. 12. He could have another ideal trip on the fresh ground along the inside here under JR, who’s won this event a record four times. TOWER OF TEXAS has experienced poor racing luck since taking his season opener in the G2 Connaught Cup. He gave the imposing Tepin a run for her money when second in last year’s Mile. Use the classy Euros DEAUVILLE and MONDIALISTE underneath in all vertical wagers.

THIRTEENTH RACE

The Jackpot Hi 5 carryover is $1.425 million. ORPHAN QUEEN improved big-time last out, when she graduated for $20K in her debut for a trainer who’s 5 for 10 second-time off the claim over the past five years. KHAWLAH lacked significant running room en route to finishing a close fourth in her latest. OFFICE IN THE SKY ran to her excellent turf breeding when trashing $16K maidens two weeks ago. ROCKPORT DANCER just missed in her first try for a new barn a month ago. PRIZED BOURBON is a candidate for the bottom of the exotics.
