ANALYSIS

BEST BET: RACE 3, GOODTIMEHADBYALL

-

FIRST RACE

CORONADO AGAIN the dominant speed once again in the opener, might not look back if able to avoid early conflict with STORMING MY WAY. The latter back to what he does best, has the speed to push preferred choice from the outset if away running from the fence, could be the right alternative should top one falter. SQUARE SHOOTER makes third start of current form cycle while getting ample class relief dropping for tag for the first time in his career. A bit curious the fact his two local works came on grass.

SECOND RACE

The first of a large number of puzzling turf races on today’s docket. This one features an apparent lack of pace unless WHAT POWER draws in off the AE list, might lead these a merry chase at a little price for red hot barn if he does. SINATRA returns to level at which he registered clear win this spring in N J, looks to get back on winning track after a troubled trip when over-matched in the Claiming Crown. PURELY BOY hard to fault in his current form, outlasted same kind as odds on choice 24 days earlier.

THIRD RACE

GOODTIMEHADBYALL, the day’s best, plunges to the bottom after finishing mid-pack in Claiming Crown, reunites Saez, too fast for these if close to best. ENDERS CAT another exiting CC when having no chance from exgtreme outside post. Easily handled this same kind on 10/9 at GPW. BIG BOY BRUNO tkane to outlast the others.

FOURTH RACE

Lots of questions here regarding some of the leading contenders taking curious class drops today. PACHANGA PARTY outclassed in the Express, back to where he best belongs. Shortens up to his most effective distance, could stand some catching if put right on the lead as expected. CALL TO HONOR had brief speed, faded badly when well backed for recent return and obviously somewhat suspicious off that effort. Might have needed one, figures to attend preferred choice from the outset. MR. BAKER another who takes a big plunge and with some early gas of his own. An obvious contender if near his best.

FIFTH RACE

GOLD SHIELD continues to improve with every start, gives every indication he’s maintaining the form coming into ‘17 finale off recent turf works, may just be a question of whether he can handle the added distance. BULLARDS ALLEY the obvious choice being a G1 winner taking big class drop here. Strictly the one to beat. RUN TIME comes off best yet and proven at a mile and one half. Should grab at least a piece.

SIXTH RACE

With the experienced ones nothing much to write home about to say the least in this lineup, must look at some of the new faces beginning with firster DANCING NOELLE who lures leading rider for the assignment. Tab board for any further clues. TRUDEAU in new hands since debuting over a wet track in June but a bit concerned she shows no published works in three weeks. TOTAL TREASURE ran okay vs. perhaps a notch better on turf, might fit with this bunch switching to dirt.

SEVENTH RACE

WESTIT may not have relished the soft course in latest after showing promise making U S bow vs. G3 company in N Y. Exits bullet drill at PM for Motion barn, could spring the upset with expected

forward move. MISS SKY WARRIOR the class of the field and one to catch from the rail. Just a matter of whether she’ll relish the grass. DREAM AWHILE disappointed as odds on choice in U S bow but appears to be training well for local bow.

EIGHTH RACE

ROCCIA D’ORO away a year, dropping well below price he was claimed for here last December, but with plenty of recent works on resume’ and like the fact Jose O. takes the call. APPA training well for return to what appears his favorite strip. Dangerous if drawing in although will have to overcome tough post if he does. The same holds true for class dropping PERFORMANCE BONUS , major player but from tough post if he goes.

NINTH RACE

I’M BETTY G should be getting back on firm grounds after not making leads, turning in even effort in the Mrs Revere. Lures Ortiz, may not look back if able to clear off in this spot. SPEIGHGAL continues to improve, training well, expecting big effort in stakes bow. TAPERGE another lightly raced sort who continues to improve with experience for top barn.

TENTH RACE

INVOLUNTARY has been graded stakes placed 3 times since the spring and showed well over this course here last winter. As good as any in another extremely wide open turf stakes. BEAULY posted career best effort from a Beyer standpoint despite wide trip when equipped with blinkers in G1 Flower Bowl and another dropping back to a bit more suitable spot. Must respect iin her current form. MARTINI GLASS double G1 placed this year but those efforts came on dirt and while she did win the Claiming Crown Tiara over this turf course on opening day, those were starter allowance horses she beat, not graded turf caliber runners. Could prove vulnerable at what figures to be a short price.

ELEVENTH RACE

Looks like a good one for the “all” button with 14 going and at least half the field considered legitimate contenders. PROFITEER the shaky nod on the drop out of graded stakes company and with J R back aboard. Well drawn inside in bulky lineup. GORGEOUS KITTEN lures Ortiz off nd Funtastic and another getting ample class relief in here. SMALL BEAR and Funtastic finished necks apart in the Gio Ponti and both in solid form but must work out trips from extreme outside posts.
