BEST BET: RACE 8, LOOK IT LINDA

FIRST RACE

There is no speed in this race. BUCKWELLSPENT won gate to wire at Aqueduct nine back and did so at this distance. His most recent was OK and now he goes third off the layoff. New barn doesn’t claim many but they are still 2 for 9 off the red tag. BENNY’S GLORY is a grinder and this is a grinder kind of race. That was a decent try last out and now he goes second time at this tricky distance while drawing the attack post. MALEKITH made a little mid move in his most recent and then tired. He should be more fit for this and that was a 65 Beyer only two back. Does he even want seven panels? He is often good price we guess.

SECOND RACE

SOUTHERN PERFECTION is stuck on the rail going an elongated sprint and that is a knock. With any kind of a decent break, this filly can steal this race nonetheless. There just isn’t that much pace in here. The class drop can only help and she is working fast in the morning. Santos is 19% with this barn locally. MS BLOOMFIELD HIGH has won four times on this dirt. She has some tactical speed so maybe she gets first jump on our top pick. Distance tab is better than most at 9-2-1-1. J K’S GIRL just couldn’t handle open foes previously but did beat restricted foes only two back. She has won at this distance before. She gets away from the rail and figures a decent price.

THIRD RACE

HOLD THE GIANT just likes to win. He has some speed and there isn’t that much pace in here. We love, love, love that local work which was 2nd best of 54. We like how he pushed a contested pace last out and still won. RAFTING is the X factor due to the lengthy layoff. Seven furlongs is no cinch off a layoff. Works at Palm Meadows are nice and steady while trainer Graham Motion is a very nice 20% off a long layoff. This gelding is the class of the field and the one to beat but we are still unsure of distance and price. DO YAHWANNA SALSA just crushed on this dirt. He has worked twice since with most recent a bullet blow out. It is no surprise that Morales sticks with neighbor so the veteran Allen will have to be the hero today.

FOURTH RACE

That was a better try last out for RELENTLESS STRIKE and now he goes third off the layoff. He has some tactical speed and that might give Centeno some early options. This gelding even draws well for this distance. GRAND VENEZUELAN might be the speed but only if Rivera guns. This gelding broke his maiden going this distance and did so gate to wire. Local works are interesting. SEVENTY SEVEN WILOW is the value. Jockey/ trainer stat sticks out at 34%. This guy does go third off the break and seems to like this distance. Main knock is that he doesn’t get much pace to set up his closing kick.

FIFTH RACE

KEEP THE RING is bred to like the grass and she did show promise in two prior turf starts. New barn is 14% off the claim. They are an even better 25% with their turf starters. This filly draws better today and figures to improve second time this sod. AMERICAN HALO has run well in all three of her prior turf starts. She was washed off the green in her last couple so it is easy to dismiss those. Off the pace style hurts a bit as there just isn’t much pace in this race. On the other hand, she gets to save all the early ground with this rail draw. BOSS BABE drops in class and just worked a local bullet. Trainer Thomas Proctor is a very good 36% when dropping into maiden claimers. CAMPBELL’S CLASS is by a 14% debut sire and a 10% debut turf sire. Her dam went 27-1-8-1 for 59K (no turf). All 6 sibs won with 5 having beat winners. Only two siblings tried the grass with one winning (16-2-4-0

for 29K). BELLA DUDETTE is by a 13% debut turf sire. Her dam never tried the green. Lone grass sib is 4-0-0-0.

SIXTH RACE

GALLOWS BAY just won nicely and did so when first on this dirt. He has worked three times since. His dam won 4 of 15 career starts and earned a nice 144K. This is her first foal to race. R HOT TWENTY’S just lost as the chalk and now drops in class. He has worked twice since and he could improve second time this dirt. Like a lot of these he has some tactical speed. SMART BUT FOOLISH just broke his maiden on the grass even though he isn’t bred to like the green (254 Tomlinson). Maybe he just likes it here? He could get some pace to chase in this spot and does figure a better price than most of these.

SEVENTH RACE

LOOKING AT BEAUTY should be a good price. She is a horse for course and can fire fresh. This mare just didn’t like Canterbury but that isn’t that unusual. Works are well spaced while most recent was a bullet. Versatile style is a plus. There isn’t that much pace in here so why can’t Butler steal this? KATE IS A TEN comes off a short layoff armed with a couple of local works. Class drop is the main selling point. TEN PENNY PRINCESS went favored last out and then proved why with a sharp win. This barn is 33% with their repeating winners. This mare has some back class.

EIGHTH RACE

The last time that Jose Ferrer rode LOOK IT LINDA she won gate to wire on this sod. Where is the speed in this race? You are looking at it. We like this post for a front end try. Jockey/trainer combo is 3 for 6. Wire please. NIGHTSTORM did break her maiden off a layoff. That was a nice try at Gulfstream Park West in her most recent when facing first time winners. Maybe this filly is just a new turf horse. STREET HEIRESS did win when first on the turf. Why the time off? Only one work in December? Race flow isn’t the best, right? At least we know that she can win from the rail.

NINTH RACE

KIYA has raced three times on this dirt going two turns. She ran OK in two of them. Her most recent was one of them. We think she can move forward in this spot and possibly at a good price. She does’t face a whole. MIGHTY MINI is the inside speed. How much is HOLA PRINCESS going to press her in the early running? Any chance Allen can float the other speed into the first turn. It might get this filly an early breather. LUCKY CHICA is just better around two turns. Her most recent wasn’t so hot but it was first time winners on a non fast dirt. We would like to see more than one December work.

TENTH RACE

A nice betting race to close out the day so enjoy. WROTE TO A DIVA tried two turns on the turf in her debut and nothing is tougher. One of three sibs is a multiple turf winner (12-2-4-2 for 42K). This filly is bred to love the grass (349 turf Tomlinson). OLD FLORIDA is consistent. Beaten favorite angle applies. We like how she has tried nothing but the grass. Second time this sod can only help. A bullet work to round out the appeal. PHENOMENAL GEM was slow to start in her debut but still beat over half the field home. That was back in August and she figures to have matured some since. This is dam’s first foal. WOMAN FLYER is in our supers. CHARLOTTE DE BERRY is by a 0 for 2 debut turf sire. Her dam missed the board in lone turf try. This is her first foal to try the sod. PETIPA is by a 8% debut sire and a 7% debut turf sire. Her dam was un-raced. One of two sibs won and it beat winners (earned 100K). Both sibs tried the green and neither won but one did hit the board. I YA SCREAM is by a 9% debut sire and a 6% debut turf sire. Her dam went 12-2-2-1 for 28K (1-0-0-0 on the sod). This is dam’s first foal.
