BEST BET: RACE 5, WHOA BOY

FIRST RACE

Quarter horses.

SECOND RACE

INFORCING ORDER has some speed in a race without much pace so advantage this gelding. The short layoff means a fresh horse and fresh speed is our favorite kind of speed. This horse draws the attack post for this distance. Now for the bad news: he is a 7YO making only his third start. Only one work? What have we gotten ourselves into? READY FOR LUCK didn’t get the best of trips last out. Second off the layoff and second time this tricky distance can only help. Will he be over bet off his most recent though? ROYAL CHARTER is a grinder that is often a huge price. His most recent was a tad better.

THIRD RACE

BIG KAZ ran evenly off the layoff and 6 1/2 furlongs is a tough return distance. He should more forward today and at a good price. He faced some of the better horses on the grounds at minor tracks so he fits with these. ACADEMIC CODE drops in class and goes second time this dirt. Two of three career wins came on a dirt fast strip. TRAWEEK is a warrior that has hit the board in 39 of 79 career starts. A better effort last out for this 9YO and we know he can put good tries together. The 1 and the 5 are the speeds. If the rail runner were to break poorly then the other speed could steal this at a price.

FOURTH RACE

CAT TRAP is the value. She got a 70 Beyer four back at Thistle even though she blew the start. Another poor start three back if looking for an excuse. A nice even try two back and then her most recent was local debut where she tired. She should be more fit today and could get a great trip if someone can soften up the chalk next door. YUMA THURMAN is the one to beat. She could clear off once again but the 2 does have some zip. Don’t forget that this mare is a 9YO. SUPSA ran OK last out and didn’t get much pace to chase. Maybe this 9YO can improve second time this dirt and second off the layoff.

FIFTH RACE

WHOA BOY draws the rail and catches a race without any pace. This gelding should find the front end at a good to great price. Added half furlong actually helps theft chances. Those front end tries 8, 9, and 10 back are what we think happens today. GUNSLINGER just figures. Back class is hard to miss. New barn doesn’t claim many (1 for 2 off the red tag). It is nice to see Lopez keep the mount but it is still tricky claiming off Diodoro. A rather quick turnaround is noted. LAUDY was facing open foes at Remington before the layoff. That was a solid try in his local debut previously. Off the pace style is perfect for Hernandez but today’s race flow is sluggish.

SIXTH RACE

OIL CHANGE might find the front end but can stalk just as easily. Either way should make for a good trip. He didn’t get a breather last out or maybe 6 1/2 furlongs was a tad far. GRAND SLAM ANDRE just ran better and now goes third off the layoff. This is his favorite distance. Was he really 109-1 in his most recent? That has to carry over some today. BULLITTONE was feeling good before the layoff but that was back in May. Is this a prep for something longer? The horse is an 11YO so keep that in mind before betting the rent monies.

SEVENTH RACE

RUNS SWEET figures a sweet trip and we like that Corbett returns. There is a ton of pace in this race and anyone that can pass runners holds a huge advantage. SARGENT STADANKO figures a huge price. He can pass runners, right? Second off the layoff can’t hurt. Local tab is rough. FLY PAPA FLY is speed between other speed. Yikes. Still, he is feeling great and does have some upside.
