ANALYSIS

BEST BET: RACE 4, UNITED

-

FIRST RACE

IT’S VENGEANCE was bounced around at the break before making up some ground to end up sixth at 2-1 in her debut. The daughter of Curlin is bred to run on, and has a little more ground to work with while facing males in this five and a half-furlong maiden special. MUSKOKA WONDER, a big son of top sire Into Mischief, has worked decently for leading trainer Casse, who paid $130K for him as a yearling on behalf of Conrad Farm. FAFA FOOEY was a belated third at first asking in a quick fivefurlong maiden special at Presque Isle June 27.

SECOND RACE

WILD N READY finished on the edges in her three outings this year in maiden special company at Belmont and in Kentucky. This maiden special came up light, and she’s a standout in the Beyer department. AVIE’S ZIP lacked room early in the stretch before checking in a distant fourth in an identical spot in her first run of the year June 9. Longtime maiden LILLZ SO PRECIOUS can round out the tri if she fires one of her better shots.

THIRD RACE

ALJAMRY went four-wide on the turn en route to a neck loss in his much-improved second race vs. $8K maidens July 7. With more forward progress, he should prevail in this inflated $12.5K maiden claimer. STORMY ACTION pressed the pace before weakening to fifth when adding Lasix in a recent $32K seller. His speed should be more effective in the lower ranks. JOE CLOCKER is by the popular Ontario sire Silent Name, who had an impressive first-out winner on Wednesday. His dam’s best offspring is the stakes-placed debut winner Miss Scarlet Road.

FOURTH RACE

UNITED put away two rivals up front through fast fractions before drawing off for an authoritative second-out maiden victory July 4. The large son of the late Giant’s Causeway should strike again in this N1X, if he continues to improve by leaps and bounds. AMBERWOOD has worked sharply since ending up on the fringes for the second straight time June 24. The 6yo appears ready for a peak performance in his third start of the season. Use the speedy HONIG and NARROW ESCAPE in the lower rungs of the exotics.

FIFTH RACE

FULL EXTREME made up some ground from the back of the pack to end up fifth in a slow-paced route when debuting a month ago. He’s adding Lasix for this engagement, and his trainer has excellent numbers with maiden second-timers. EDGE OF THE NILE is descending from open maiden special company to compete with a tag for the first time in the second race of his form cycle. Lermyte is 5 for 31 at the meet for the Casse barn. MAKEMINEAMANHATTAN just missed two back in a $25K sprint, and was beaten just a length when fourth in a subsequent turf route at this level. Put him on the bottom of vertical bets, along with ANALYZER.

SIXTH RACE

STRIKE THE FLAG came from a trailing sixth last time to win a nine-furlong maiden special going away. The late-blooming Sam-Son Farm homebred shouldn’t mind moving out to 10 furlongs in this N1X. FOLLOW MY LEAD rallied for second in each of his last two N1X attempts, most recently
