BEST BET: RACE 8, COURTLY DIVA

FIRST RACE

MAGICAL BREEZE is tagged for just the second time, while plunging from maiden special to $16K company in this mile and a sixteenth turf route. The son of Broken Vow appears to have found a field that he can handle here with blinkers on and Campbell retaining the mount. BOIS BANDE checked in second in each of his last two outings, most recently in a nine-furlong turf tilt at this level. BOBBY’S ESCAPE is eligible to wake up while stretching out from seven-eighths for his third run of the meet.

SECOND RACE

SILENT CONSORT comes off a fading fourth for $20K behind Lost Point, who subsequently doubled up against $20K NW2 stock (63 Beyer). She’s dropping to this light $10K turf dash after working a quick half-mile, and figures to take some beating. JADE’S A GEM fought for the lead before weakening to fourth at first asking in a $40K grass event, but then came up empty in a subsequent Tapeta tilt. SHAUNESSY was a distant third in her lone turf excursion, and could get back on track with the bug Kimura taking over. Use PRODUCE HOPE in the tri and super.

THIRD RACE

RUN TO THE BANK was in solid form prior to a recent subpar showing at this $16K class. The durable veteran can register an overdue victory in his first start with Boulanger riding. DEXTER ROAD prevailed at a notch lower here July 13, before a flat performance in an optional claimer on the dirt at Fort Erie. He could dominate the front-end proceedings. ADMIRALS COVE faded to finish seventh among a trio of next-out winners in a recent $20K seller. He has since switched trainers to McKnight, who has impressive stats with new shooters. Toss WAGE ACCELERATION in the super.

FOURTH RACE

CONNORS SENIORITA stalked a sleepy pace en route to a clear second-place finish as the favorite at this level in her third start July 25. The capable bug Kimura takes over to shed some weight in this shorter six-furlong sprint. BID’S KID threw in a rare clunker last time going seven-eighths. She was previously a close second going three-quarters, her preferred distance. SHEZ A TEN I KNOW and ZLATICA are probable for the lower rungs of the exotics.

FIFTH RACE

SUPER SPICE flashed brief speed during a 15-length loss at first asking vs. $20K maidens July 27. The daughter of Super Saver could be considerably more effective here for $8K under Lermyte, who’s won seven races at the meet for the powerful Casse barn. HOLIDEJAVU shook loose on the lead before tiring to third following an extended layoff against $12.5K maidens July 22. Cutting back from six to five furlongs might be to her benefit. SOMERSBY is dropping to a new low for her return from a sabbatical. EGYPTIAN DANCER is coming off a double-digit loss in a key maiden special on the dirt at Charles Town.

SIXTH RACE

LOUISE THE LASER folded in the last sixteenth after racing prominently in a recent $12.5K grass sprint. She’s changing surfaces while dropping to $6.25K, and could end a drought if things go her way. HANSEN’S GIRL earned a big/inflated 76 Beyer when beating $10K B opposition by five lengths a month ago. MARILYNS LAST LOVE, who’s been displaying hanging tendencies while running competitively, is logical for the bottom of vertical wagers in her second try off the Ensom claim.

SEVENTH RACE

PRINCESS BULLET pressed a rapid pace before retreating when returning from the sidelines in a $40K turf route Aug. 3. She had to have needed that race, and it could set her up for this $10K B route on the Tapeta, on which she won both of her races. BILKY BLUZ finished second for the 12th time when plunging to this price from $40K in her latest. ZDENKA closed belatedly when finishing behind the latter in third in her improved third start of the meet July 25. KATE’S WHISTLE is a wild card.
