How to play the Pick 4

- by Kenny nPedck

WOODBINE 8th: Using them all in the Woodbine Mile, which features a couple of shaky horses at relatively short prices as well as a Morning Line favorite (DELTA PRINCE) who could be overbet but doesn’t have an obvious edge on the European shippers. Throw in an uncertain race flow and it is a relatively easy race in which to spread (9).

BELMONT 8th: ENTHUSIASTIC GAL impressed in defeat in her latest, rallying nicely through the lane in a race that didn’t set up particularly well for the closers. She should get a kinder set up this time around, and that should enable her to make the last run under Irad Ortiz Jr. (1).

WOODBINE 9th: NEW MONEY HONEY and INFLEXIBILITY are clearly the ones to beat in this Canadian, and while it would be much better to take a stand with one of these two favorites they are tough to separate. Also, with a single in Belmont’s 8th race, it’s not cost prohibitive to double the cost of the ticket and include both (2).

BELMONT 9th: BARKAA ships in from France for trainer Chad Brown and she’s clearly a threat in her U. S. debut based on the barn and her Timeform Ratings. But SHADAN is another from Brown making her first start in the states, and while she doesn’t have the figures of Barkaa she’ll offer a lot more value despite the same connections. CAPLA TEMPTRESS may be best of the locals, based on her Beyers, and a good effort for the place in the Lake Placid. VICTORINE seems to be on the improve, as her latest was her best yet in terms of her Timeform figures (4).
