BEST BET: RACE 5, PEGGY’S COVE

FIRST RACE

CREATE AN EDGE is plunging from $25K to the lower maidens ranks in this $8K seller, while switching from turf to the Tapeta. The turnback from seven to five furlongs might enable her to use her speed more effectively than before. WEE MISS DOROTHY is also getting some noteworthy class relief, while shortening up in distance. SOMERSBY dueled up front before weakening to third in her improved second race off the bench Sept. 12.

SECOND RACE

ARTICULATE came wide from sixth last time to eke out a nose victory at a notch lower, on a day when a very strong south-west wind eventually forced a cancellation. She can double up if she stays in the zone. REBEL WITHA CHANCE saved ground throughout in a stalking position before coming out on the short end of the aforementioned win photo. SAYYESTOXCELENCE made a premature move to the lead around the half-mile pole before fading to fourth in the same race.

THIRD RACE

PRINCESS LILA is by a high-percentage first-out sire, and her dam produced a debut winner at 2. She’s commencing her career with blinkers and Lasix, for a barn that can have one ready. MAHONE BAY put away a rival on the lead before tiring to second when dropping to this price from OS maiden special company in her latest. CON ARTIST is taking the blinkers off following a belated third behind the latter. Use her underneath in the exotics, along with DAZZLE ME.

FOURTH RACE

TRICKY SONET dominated $20K maidens two back in a Tapeta sprint, and then wasn’t beaten all that far after getting away slowly in a turf experiment. She’s descending to a new low in this $10K NW2 tilt on the main track, with Contreras back aboard. A CHAIN OF LOVE came up a little short in her last few traveling a mile and a sixteenth. She could run big on the turnback to seven-eighths. UNRIVALED

SOUL was bumped at the start and steadied on the turn before checking in nearly three lengths back in eighth against easier two weeks ago. Use AGOSTA in the tri and super, with Da Silva taking over from the suspended Wilson.

FIFTH RACE

PEGGY’S COVE raced four-wide on the turn over a rail-biased track when third at first asking in an identical spot Sept. 16. She could put it all together this time if things go her way. DANCING DOLL was a front-running second ahead of the top choice that day. She’s improved with each subsequent outing for trainer Nick Nosowenko, who scored with a sharp 2yo first-timer on Wednesday. THE BEAR FACTOR could be a speed threat, and the debuting COBRA CASABLANCA has worked quickly on occasion.

SIXTH RACE

DATA PRINCESS worked okay from the gate last weekend, and is reasonably spotted against these $25K maidens. The daughter of low-percentage debut sire Data Link is the first foal from a versatile winner of $62K. KEWANNE commenced her career by placing in back-to-back $32K sprints, but is exiting a subpar showing for $40K. FIREY AND GORGEOUS broke outward en route to running third at this price Sept. 12. Her only real poor showing came in the Muskoka Stakes.

SEVENTH RACE

ESCONDERA probably would have won a recent $32K claimer outright had he not been herded out late by a rival who was subsequently disqualified. He’s a good fit in this six-furlong N1X under Husbands, who’s 6 for 14 at the meet for trainer
