SIXTH RACE

-

NUTZFORBOLTZ tired over yielding ground off the layoff now tries a shorter sprint for his second start back; he’s run well enough over seven-eighths to think he can be effective here and winding up a little further off the pace this time wouldn’t be a bad thing. SPARKY couldn’t impact late vs. a better field last time but he ran well two starts back when keeping after a good pace in a race that went to closers over yielding ground; blinkers on as one of only two entrants in this field to have never run for a tag. ALIEN SEASON has speed from the outside and has hit the board in four of his five turf starts to date, including that last one at Kentucky Downs where he came up short with a new top figure; doesn’t face the strongest field of turf sprinters for his first start back in NY since last summer.

SEVENTH RACE

D’AMBROSIO was dropped in class off the layoff to pick up his long overdue maiden win, which he managed to get sprinting in his first start as a gelding; has better races going longer and he may be the speed of this field with his prep out of the way. SHADOW RIDER an infrequent winner but one who shows up every time and he is at his best over a one-turn mile; Rudy excels off the claim with dirt routers, but this one required a layoff after being taken back in May. TRUSTWORTHY has run a series of good races since arriving in NY, including each of his last two while contesting the pace going shorter following back-to-back wins over nine furlongs at Saratoga; threat if he can keep it going from the outside.

EIGHTH RACE

MR MAYBE has been back in form this year after losing his way following the claim last spring, and he has even managed to run well over distances short of his best recently; back to a more reasonable spot after trying stakes company to no avail last time. NOT IN CHARGE also dropping out of a stakes race that he just found too tough last time; thought he had a better trip when outfinishing SENTRY on June 21st, but his best races have all come going longer, while SENTRY remains a question mark over distances like this. SENTRY did take a bit of a shuffle in the stretch last time, but he didn’t appear to be as strong in the stretch over that longer trip as he had been previously; can have another chance as Shug presses on with him at this longer route.

NINTH RACE

OUR LAST BUCK debuted back in June and made a fast pace over a mile before succumbing late; starts back sprinting as already one of the fastest horses in this race, and he holds all the upside. THEFINALCRAZYDUDE showed speed in a race that fell apart late in his turf debut going longer then got to a stretch lead after keeping close to a fast pace last time and was outfinished by closers; may not be as fast as the top one early but he may be able to hold on vs. this field if pulling a trip similar to that last one. THERE HE GOES just missed at this level and over this distance while earning the top figure in this field two starts back; went to the sidelines after making just one more start as a 3yo, but he is clearly a contender here if ready off the layoff. 110th St. and Rockaway Blvd. Ozone Park, NY 11417 (718) 641-4700 NYRA Scratch Line: (866) 697-2238 Main track: One and one-eighth miles, oval Distance from last turn to finish line: 1,155.5 feet Inner turf: Seven Furlongs, 43 feet, oval Distance from last turn to finish line: 1,174.9 feet Turf course: One mile, oval
