How to play the Pick 4

- by Kenny Peck

RACE 4:

TAP THE MARK comes off a win where he beat a couple of these same rivals, and if he can run back to that Beyer he looms tough here. Extra distance a question but there’s no real reason he can’t benefit from going seven furlongs. CHARGING LION cuts back to a sprint after clipping heels and falling in his latest; barn shows a flat-bet profit with turnbacks (2).

RACE 5:

PACIFIC GALE ships in from New York with competitive Beyers, and she also seems to have the right running style as this sprint may set up for a closer. SPLIT TIME turns back to seven panels and he is prove at this distance, as well as over this strip. SPECIAL RELATIVITY has some of the best Beyers in the field, and her tactical speed should ensure a good trip. AMERICA’S TALE and ESTILO FEMENINO are wide but both have speed (5).

RACE 6:

I’ll use all 10 of them in this restricted allowance race, as it does seem to be fairly wide open. To wit: NO MORE TALK is unproven at the distance and comes off a sub-par effort, albeit against better, and he’s the 9/5 Morning Line favorite (10).

RACE 7:

PASSCODE has crossed the wire first by open lengths in each of his last two but only the last one counted, as he interfered with FOLLOW THE DOG and was disqualified. These two may have an edge on the others if they work out trips behind a quick, contested pace (2).
