BEST BET: RACE 6, PERFECT SURPRISE

FIRST RACE

EXECUTIVE DECREE gets good race flow and just ran a Beyer top. Now he goes third off the layoff and gets a positive rider switch to Stevens. We like how connections once again find a spot where this gelding can’t be claimed. PRIVATE JOKE continues to finish second and do so with solid figs. He cuts back a full furlong today and that concerns us the most. Arrieta returns and there is plenty of pace to the outside. SERBIAN SYCLONE comes in fresh and maybe that sharpens his speed a tad more. Speed to the inside and out is a problem. He does like this dirt and distance while that 85 Beyer from two back is better than all here. A bullet work for good measure.

SECOND RACE

MAGIC BLAST dropped in class two back and almost got her picture taken when losing the photo. Perhaps five furlongs was too short last out or foes too tough. She drops to the 8K level today and draws nicely for her stalking trip all while the blinkers come off. THE LADY IS ENOUGH is feeling good, keeps Arieta, and has improved her Beyer in three straight. We like today’s full furlong cut back. It might be her turn. DELIGHTFUL ANA tries easier and puts the blinkers on. This barn is 33% second off this type of layoff. CARIBBEAN QUEEN is by a 23% debut sire. Her dam went 13-2-4-3 for 33K. Two of three sibs won.

THIRD RACE

DUKATI was buried on the rail last out going today’s distance and after breaking second to last .... won in a dead heat. Now he draws best. A stalking trip off the 4 and 5 sounds ideal. MR.

LOVEJOY might be the speed of the speed in here. He draws outside his main pace foe so there is that. Will turf to dirt dull his speed some? We will count on Scott Stevens to figure that out. LONDON LEGACY has always liked this dirt and more so this distance. Perhaps that try two back was too short at five furlong. His most recent was a tad better. It wasn’t that long ago that he was running figs in the 80’s.

FOURTH RACE

SHESAHEATSEEKER goes for a top barn with Shawn Davis calling the shots. This mare is a 5YO with only three career starts so her upside is easy to see. We love the fact that Stevens gets a leg up as he is 38% for this barn. This mare has good speed and finds a great spot to use it. KELLYANNE got Beyers of 46 and 42 two and three back. Was that a classic bounce second off the layoff last out? A new jock is noted. Her lack of front speed especially at this shortened sprint distance is a small knock. MIA MO just ran better and that makes two starts in a row where that happened. Now she goes third off the layoff. We wouldn’t be surprised to see some speed with Cruz at the helm. CHEDDAR JILL is by a 1 for 7 debut sire. Her dam went 43-4-11-6 and earned 32K. Lone sib is 10-30-1 for 11K. INFINITE VISIONS is by a 9% debut sire. Her dam went 20-9-4-0 for 101K. Lone sib is 10-5-1-0 for 52K.

FIFTH RACE

DIAMONDS DENA just won nicely at this distance and retains the leading rider. The 6 and 8 provide the pace. Recent figs are the best and this is the absolute one to beat so let’s move on then. CALL YOUR BLUFF might offer some value. We like this post and she has some tactical speed. That try four back versus tougher hints at real talent. She isn’t bred to like the turf so that helps us discount her most recent. That was a tough return distance two back not to mention open claimers. She has done all of her winning at today’s distance. SEVEN CHANCES might be a new route horse. Sprint to route worked two back. Race flow is fine for this off the pace kicker.

SIXTH RACE

PERFECT SURPRISE needed his return try and notice that he didn’t get much tote play at almost 12-1. The apprentice rider is replaced by the crafty veteran who is 4 for 8 with team Chad Story. Connections add a half furlong to what is this gelding’s best distance. There is little speed in this race and that should make for a great trip as this gelding has some. MY MAJESTY might have sneaky speed. If Hernandez were to gun then we wouldn’t be shocked if this gelding found the front

SEVENTH RACE

MEET’N ON HIGH has some speed and is 2 for 2 on this dirt. This barn is 22% with their repeating winners. There isn’t a ton of pace in here so maybe this mare will get a winning trip like her last two. JOSIE TREASURE ran well two back at a tough distance and then did so again while cutting back two furlongs. Both of her wins have come at today’s six furlongs. Versatile style is a plus. MISS BARTON caught a soft pace last out and won. Today’s pace is quicker but who knows what that shot of confidence did to this filly.

EIGHTH RACE

KALSA escaped SoCal foes and has run well twice here. Connections waste little time finding this filly another race. Versatile style is a plus and the leading rider stays put. KARYS SECRET has speed and goes third off the layoff. Other speed and first time winners is the main worry. We do like that this filly has a recent work. Sarmiento and Jose Silva are a very nice 42% at the meet. BLAZIN ON BY finally beat maidens two back and must have liked it as her most recent was rock solid. Is she better with a target? That won’t be a problem today.
