BEST BET: RACE 4, MOCHI

-

FIRST RACE

HALF TON OF FUN is stuck on the AE list but if he gets to run he has to be considered, coming off five straight races where he hit the board; main concern is lack of victories during that span and overall but this does look like a good spot for him. BLESSED AT MASS seems to have the right running style for this opener, as he’ll be looking to close and there’s a decent amount of speed in here; should be running late. AMBERJACK threw a clunker in his latest but his prior Beyers give him credibility.

SECOND RACE

TURKO TREAT was no threat to the runaway extreme longshot winner in that debut run but he was clear for the place in a promising effort; easy to like off the effort and on the drop in class. WILL THIS SHIPS AIL merits a long look off a decent effort in his most recent, where he posted a 42 Beyer; that figure puts him right in the middle of this. TAKE THE OVER has never raced this cheaply and is the one to beat at this reduced level on the strength of his Beyers.

THIRD RACE

LOCO MARTILLO was caught up in a duel in his latest but he rated nicely in his prior try, and if he can work out a stalking trip today he should fall into a good trip behind a contested pace; hoping he can run back to that effort in his third start off the layoff. PEAS AND CARROTS was off the board in his first start against winners but the resulting figure makes him the one to beat here; maidenwinning Beyer adds to the appeal. EL MAYITO is one of the main contenders in here by virtue of his last two figures but his overall record makes him tough to like for the top spot.

FOURTH RACE

MOCHI has some nice works showing for her first start in about seven weeks, and though she was no threat to the easy winner in that last one she was game to save the show, and less than a length out of 2nd; flattered when the runner-up returned to score (56 Beyer). COOL MO has a couple of nice breezes showing, and the barn does well with firsters, and in Maiden Special Weight races overall; dam did post her lone win on turf but sire Uncle Mo was of course a dirt horse, who won his own career debut. ADVENTURE LAND is the one to beat after a narrow loss in her bow but she could be an underlay given the outside draw, and the fact that she is eligible to regress without another favorable trip.
