FOURTH RACE

CHARMING JILLY B has tried the turf three times and has run well in two of those. Let’s say that she needed that turf try three back when returning off a layoff. Current form is solid as she just finished second on the dirt at almost 10-1. She doesn’t face a whole lot. MAGIC BLAST has good turf breeding. She beat half the field home in her lone turf try and it was when first around two turns. She got a confidence boost last out when breaking her maiden on the road. The filly should show some speed in this race. MISTLETOE has the best turf breeding in this field (320 Turf Tomlinson). She got a 54 Beyer on this sod only three back. She was washed off the green last out so we can discount that effort. ADDYSGOINGMOBILE is by a 0 for 17 debut turf sire. Her dam went 8-0-1-1 on the grass for 15K. Lone sib to try the grass is 7-1-2-0 and banked 16K. JANE’S REVENGE is by a 5% debut turf sire. Her dam went 5-0-0-0. Four sibs failed to win on the grass. GRACE HOPPER is by a 12% debut turf sire. Her dam missed the board in her only turf start. Lone sibling went 6-1-1-3 in Qatar and banked 20K. There is no speed in this race. FRENCH TART did nothing in her most recent was it was a shortened sprint off a layoff and we say she simply needed it. This barn is 50% second off a medium layoff. We know that this mare likes a flat mile and she could show some tactical speed as someone has to. CUP OF SOUP draws inside and keeps Arrieta. If he sends hard then this mare could find the front end and don’t forget that the turn comes up quickly at this distance. Her most recent was better and it came at a flat mile. AFLEET ALICE drops in class so there is that. She has yet to win on this dirt or at this distance.

SIXTH RACE

DESERT FOX was buried on the rail two back while going 6 1/2 furlongs and that is a tough spot because horses often break poorly from there. Guess where this guy broke? Yep, dead last. But, he rallied from there and broke his maiden by 2 lengths. He then tried first time winners on the stretch-out and didn’t get a clean trip but still beat a couple home. So far, so good, right? Now he cuts back to his win distance, draws better, and goes for a barn that is 29% on the cut back. They are 31% in sprints and 30% with claimers. IVY MIKE is feeling good and goes for the top barn. Yet to try this distance though. SATURDAY SHOCKWAVE just won as the big chalk and draws the attack post today. His tactical speed comes in handy as he faces winners for the first time.

SEVENTH RACE

CON ARTIST escapes stakes foes and drops to the lowest maiden claiming level. There is a sentence that we don’t write very often. This filly got a 53 Beyer two back and that towers over this field for the most part. DR. RIZZI D. is better of late and it came with the move to two turns. With a little luck, she could get some pace to chase. MONGOLIAN CHEETAH has lost her last couple as the favorite. The good news is that she won’t go favored today. She got a 55 Beyer on this dirt three back. Where did that come from and where did it go?

EIGHTH RACE

MONACO GIRL gets first Lasix and that can only help. New barn is 56% off the claim. This filly was fractious before her most recent and that had to hurt. Added half furlong helps theft chances if connections send. RUNAWAYFROMROSENOT ran OK last out while facing a full field of 12. She tries six furlongs for the first time today. A jock switch to Corbett is noted and he is 25% for this barn. CRUMLIN DIVA will be coming late. Race flow is only average though. The leading rider stays put. This filly has won at today’s distance.
