BEST BET: RACE 6, RYD A STAR

FIRST RACE

LANDONESE is much better now than when last seen on the grass back when he was still a maiden. He is bred to love the grass. His last race came back key when 4 of 8 returned to win with figs of 73, 80, 64, and 71. Today’s class drop is key. If the umbrellas come out, then even better. HANDSOME HARVE has some solid turf tries and they came for the most part before he broke his maiden. His most recent versus better at Evangeline was a Beyer top. KID CORREA has only tried the grass once but it was a solid try where he lost by less than 3 lengths. Current form is fine. If it rains or if this is pulled off the grass then even better as he is 7-0-4-2 on a non fast dirt.

SECOND RACE

SMITHWICK came here after knocking about at the Fair Grounds and in Oklahoma where he didn’t do much. Then...bam... a much better effort and a Beyer top by a mile (OK 12 points). Does this guy just love elongated sprints? Or is he a horse for course before anyone knows it? Yes and yes. CAVIAR COOL ran well in his debut and now drops a notch for the money. Second time racing can only help and 6 1/2 panels is no picnic for your debut. BAILEY’S POWER is stuck on the rail which we hate at this distance and cuts back in real-estate which is another non starter for us. So why did we pick him third? Ummmm, he was right there with a furlong to go and as the favorite. That’s it. INTHEHEARTOF TEXAS is by a 8% debut sire. His dam went 3-0-0-0. Lone sib is 3-0-1-0 and earned $3,455.

THIRD RACE

NOISEY BOY gets good race flow if all stay in. He likes this dirt and gets to save all the early ground. Works are well spaced and longer. QUALITY PRODUCTION is the higher priced speed horse that draws inside main pace foe. Give us that everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. Granted, the other speed is a Broberg runner but also someone that has never run here. Our 8-1 morning line has already won on this dirt. BAIRES BOY has some back class. When last seen locally this guy was

winning in the mud at this level while less than even money. JACK BE QUICK exits a key race where 3 of 6 returned to win with figs of 79, 82, and 61. (another finished 2nd with a 82 figure). STRAWN’S CASH exits a key race where 2 of 9 returned to win with figs of 83 and 79. MIZZTIC TALE exits a key race where 2 of 7 returned to win with figs of 61 and 62.

FOURTH RACE

CHEEPER TO KEEPER is by a 13% debut turf sire. Her dam went 6-2-0-0 and earned 63K on the grass (won sod debut). One of three sibs won on the grass with that being a multiple winner of 291K. This filly did nothing in her debut before running much better in her second start so maybe she needed her most recent off a layoff. If this filly found the front end from her inside post then maybe, just maybe, the other speed lets her go. VALENTINE CHARM will be happy to chase our top pick around the track. She is proven on this sod and the layoff is short. ACORN STREET got a 70 Beyer when last seen on the green. Her turf breeding is actually great so why is she 1 for 10 on the green? DRAMA SPECIALIST is by a 9% debut turf sire. Her dam went 18-2-1-3 and earned 20K. All 3 sibs failed to hit the board on the grass.

FIFTH RACE

FUSAICHI FLAME drops a notch while escaping Oaklawn foes. His most recent race came back key when 2 of 5 returned to win with figs of 71 and 63. Second time with Broberg is a plus while two previous local tries were so long ago that they have fallen off his past performances. We love the jock switch from Mojica to Eramia (54% Jockey/ trainer combo). MOSTLY SUNNY broke 10th and 9th respectively in his last two starts. He beat over half the field home in one of them. When last seen on this dirt, this horse broke first and pushed the pace before tiring late and from the worst of posts. This horse showed speed four back. This would be a good spot to find his speed and he draws the attack post for the distance. JADE STAR is a grinder and this is a good distance for that type of runner plus he is 12-1 on the morning line. He might be closer to the pace than you think all while going third off the layoff.

SIXTH RACE

RYD A STAR has never run poorly on the grass and is bred to love it with his 334 grass Tomlinson. His last race came back key when 4 of 8 returned to win with Beyer speed figures of 77, 87, 69, and 59. This barn is 22% with new runners. They are 20% on the grass. Works are longer and this gelding did win his debut on the grass going two turns and folks that is tough. LAST FLASH might be a new turf horse. He passed a few late in his most recent and got what he needed from that sprint prep. Race flow could be quicker and he hates a wet track if this comes off. COME ON GET HIGHER has won on this sod. One listed work in the last month or so? Well, there are some training tracks around here so let’s hope he worked there. SPRING RODEO is by a 0 for 2 debut turf sire. His dam went 9-4-2-0 on the green and earned 57K. Two of three sibs won on the weeds including a debut winner. KING ZIPPY is by a 3% debut turf sire. His dam went 1-0-0-0 on the green and this is her first foal to try the sod.

SEVENTH RACE

BATTY is by a 11% debut sire. Her dam went 41-8-7-10 and earned 10K. All 6 sibs beat winners something you don’t see very often. Homebred has a slew of works and most are well spaced. GLENDALE HOTTIE is by a 3% debut sire (didn’t an Ice Box firster win last week here?). Her dam went 26-3-3-6 and earned 152K. One of two sibs won and is 17-4-3-2 for 52K. UNTUTTABLE SPEED has speed and comes in fresh which should sharpen said speed. Other speed is the main knock and she is drawn between them. CACTUS SNAKE is by a 8% debut sire. Her dam went 3-1-0-0 and earned 9K. Lone sib is 3-0-0-0. SNUG LADY is by the same sire as barn-mate and our top pick. Her dam went 17-1-0-5 and earned 52K. This is her first foal to race. RATATOUILLE exits a key race where 2 of 6 returned to win with figs of 33 and 27. G NANNY is in our supers.
