SIXTH RACE

Reaching to the far outside with TROPICAT in this interesting turf mile for starter-optionals as this 6yo starts anew with Drawing Away and Dibona. Like the way he came to hand for Ralph in the spring; seems a timely claim if nothing else. Closer to the hedge, GRAND NENUCO has been very reliable in recent months when finishing first or second in each of his last 5; hard to argue with his type. CASH CALL KITTEN was claimed by Joey O. & friends off a rousing comeback score; may be on to something.

SEVENTH RACE

Breakout victory (and career-best 75 Beyer) three weekends ago for FLASHING DIAMOND coincided with a timely claim by o/t Steve Klesaris, who discovers a winnable spot right away with the 4yo filly; can pay for herself pronto with an alert start along the rail and under the hot bug Torres. MY SARASOTA STAR will show heels a good ways when stretching out from a series of dashes; her kind of speed always a danger. BELLA TORMENTA reps Navarro, who has the majority of his stable in Jersey at this time of year; won’t escape fans’ notice.

EIGHTH RACE

Virtual replay of the July 26 race contested by the main contenders in this $25k mdn.-claimer could yield familiar results, as EL DUQUE was a legit 2nd as a solid fave in that spot (before being DQ’d); stayed fit with that off-the-turf effort just 8 days ago; gotta admire how he’s grinding. Meanwhile, MASPERO and FRIO, who finished just behind the top pick in the key race, figure to provide the main competition again.

NINTH RACE

Really gotta like the interest shown by a fresh TOTONO when he just missed vs. bottom-rung mdn.-claimers going shorter in his 7/25 comebacker for Sano, and now he gets more ground while favorably drawn in an outer box for this same $10k; there all the way as the day’s best. GOLDEN PRINCE comes the main foe after finishing 3rd in this same kind of race in each of his last 3. STARSHIP FONZY ran pretty well in his lone main-track attempt.

TENTH RACE

Hybrid conditions woven into this ‘beaten’ $16k claimer favor the likes of TIPSY KITTEN, whose remains eligible despite his bust-loose score in that recent off-the-turfer for Fawkes; was knocking on the door at this level anyway when doing his turf thing; right and ready. BOW TIE AFFAIR was haltered amid good form from his latest by D’Angelo, who has drawn notice with his early success; must overcome a difficult outer post. STREET CODE and JUST THE FACTS figure on the fringes.

ELEVENTH RACE

The layoff is the primary question for QUIJOTE as this classy Fla.-bred returns to action following a layoff of 4+ months. Remember that he beat X Y Jet in the Sunshine Millions in Jan. before finishing a creditable 2nd to Recruiting Ready in his next out; those are legit elites in the national sprint division. FIELD TRIP has amassed a fine record when making steady progress over the last year; reverting to that mid-May Beyer (97) sure would put him in the thick of this. SOLDOLLIE has won 2 of 4 since Boogie claimed him; can contend with his best.

TWELFTH RACE

Usually good to avoid last-out mdn.-breakers when they’re facing winners nd for the first time, but MIA’S BOBTAIL can be an exception to that rule when part of a scrambled-looking finale; there’s that easy last win, of course, but she also turned in a noteworthy grass effort during the championship meet; one of a handful of logical considerations if you’re looking to spread in the Rainbow. SWEEPENO seems another must-use as another last-out mdn. winner; new blinks and new connex to boot. MI KARLITA matches up Beyer-wise and otherwise with all of ‘em; one more live one for Sano.
