GULFSTREAM WEST

-

and earned 102K. Lots and lots of works including three of his last four at five furlongs. LODI is by a 13% debut sire. His dam went 4-0-0-0. Of 3 sibs to race, 2 won including a multiple winner of 130K. FIVE OF HEARTS is by a 0 for 27 debut sire. His dam missed the board in her only start. All 6 sibs won including 5 multiple winners. DREAM WILLCOME is by a 9% debut sire. His dam was un-raced. Both sibs beat winners (34K and 19K).

FOURTH RACE

TOUGH N BUFF is by a 2 for 8 debut sire (all sire stats are for 2YO’s only). Her dam went 39-9-8-10 and earned 284K. All 4 sibs won including a pair of multiple winners. Another sib has run only once but won its debut. Works are fine. The rail draw for a debut is tough luck. MUDSLIDE WICKED has speed and draws outside. Maybe the cut back from a turf route helps her late energy. WE MISS SUSIE is the fresh face from Laurel. She did face full fields in her last two. This barn is 34% turf to dirt. On the other hand, they are 0 for 33 with their youngsters. STRONG PERFORMANCE is by a 9% debut sire. Her dam was un-raced. Six of twelve siblings won with the best by far being Seattle Smooth who earned over 1 million dollars. UNION LANE exits a key race where 2 of 5 returned to win with figs of 78 and 52.

FIFTH RACE

TROPICAL FROSTY can ship and run well as she broke her maiden at Monmouth after first racing at Gulfstream. Recent turf foes are just good. The class drop is huge. She debuted for 20K so today’s restricted 16K isn’t that much less. Perhaps connections just want to restrore this one’s confidence. QUEEN MONICA is or should be a huge price. She sits at 20-1 on the morning line. We know next to nothing about this Venezuela import. We have zero turf sire stats on League of Nations so perhaps this is his first grass runner. This filly’s dam missed the board in her only turf start. This is her first foal to race. This horse ends up in a barn that is 39% with their new runners. They are 47% on the grass (sample size of 19). First Lasix is part of the plan. We have always wondered why connections bring a horse from another country only to have them debut at a claiming price. Isn’t it expensive to bring them here in the first place? SPEED TOO TUME is the fresh face from the mid west. Her turf breeding is solid and she has hit the exacta on the green in two of her eight starts. She should show some speed in this spot. CATNIP KITTEN exits a key race where 2 of 4 returned to win with figs of 55 and 53.

SIXTH RACE

DIZZY seems capable in an elongated sprint as she broke her maiden at seven furlongs with an 82 Beyer. Second time this dirt can’t hurt and she gets a weight break today. GIOIELLI has never run poorly. Although a while ago, her last race came back key when 3 of 9 returned to win with Beyer speed figures of 75, 70, and 50. As expected, team Pletcher is very good off a long layoff at 32%. FLASHING DIAMOND has some tactical speed and seems to like this dirt. The rail draw at this distance is a small knock.

SEVENTH RACE

WORDS OF DEVINE won nicely off the layoff and is now 2 for 2. Connections find a logical spot to face first time winners. For the third straight race, this filly draws the 3 hole. She does put races together for the first time. BLESSED BEAST drops in class and cuts back a half furlong. We can discount that turf route three back. She faced the boys two back. MARCHING IN has some speed and draws outside. She adds a half furlong and that should help theft chances if connections send. She tied her Beyer top 2 and 3 back. She has worked twice since her most recent.

EIGHTH RACE

MR DEWEY tried a turf sprint for the first time two back and ran well when finishing second only beaten a half length. Current form is fine and he has a slew of works since his most recent. Form cycle hints at better but he does lose Zayas to the 4. Hey, a better price perhaps. DAD’S YANKEES just beat first time winners and did so on this sod. Maybe he is a new turf horse. Front speed is main weapon but there is other zip in here. TWISTED LICORICE found open double nickel claimers a bit much last out. Plus, he broke 8th of 11. Jaramillo keeps the faith. This colt ran well on this sod as a maiden way back in November of last year.
